Meet Maria Anderson | Cleaning and Organization expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My approach to work-life balance, over the years, has dramatically changed. Early in my career, I was much more about building my expertise and reputation within the storage and organizing industry, often leading to long hours and sacrificing personal time for work. More experienced and confident in my skills and abilities, I quickly came to realize that a healthy balance between work and personal life was a good way of sustaining productivity and overall wellness.
Now, I make sure to properly place boundaries between work and my life. I set time out with my family, hobbies, and, most importantly, self-care, all while delivering exceptional service to my clients at Henfield Storage. It’s all about being intentional with one’s time—working really efficiently during working hours and really disconnecting when it is time to recharge.
I, however, believe that balance is never in place the right way, but it’s something that is pretty much pursued in everyday life. There will always be busy times at work, but such is the time when one needs to make amends by resting and relaxing sometimes. My whole perception has changed from the days when work and life were perceived as two opposite forces to the present day, when I realize that there could be a connection between them. If I take care of myself better, then I can make myself more focused and effective at the workplace, and passion in my work leads to fulfillment in my personal life. The balancing of long-term success and happiness tends to balance both the personal and professional worlds.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One’s passion has always revolved around creating order out of chaos, which naturally led to the storage and organizing industry. My career started as a residential organizer helping people get the most from their available space. As time progressed, my expertise included businesses with regard to optimizing their solutions for maximum efficiency while keeping them cost-effective. With Henfield Storage, I can actually make a difference by offering individual advice to individual and business clients on how best to utilize every square centimeter of available space.
I believe that my approach is client-centered. One size doesn’t fit all, don’t you think? Every client is different, with unique needs and challenges that need to be understood first before any recommendation is even given. Something that I am proud of is attention to detail and commitment to service.
Not always easy, though, was the journey. There were times when I struggled to understand the changing needs of my clients, especially at the beginning of my career with larger companies. But I learned a new lesson each time there was a challenge.
Probably the greatest lesson I have learned is the importance of flexibility and listening to your clients every minute of each day. I’ll try to ensure that people feel less stressed and more empowered when it comes to their organized spaces. At Henfield Storage, we do not only store goods; we provide peace of mind.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would curate the perfect one-week itinerary for a trip to Atlanta if my BFF were visiting: Explore the best eats, travels, and relaxation spots in the city.
First, brunch at West Egg Café for some good Southern comfort food, followed by a walk along the BeltLine to see the art and local shops; for dinner, Ponce City Market has everything from gourmet tacos to fresh seafood—perfect to sample.
We would find time to head out to Piedmont Park for a picnic. The Atlanta Botanical Gardens was just next door, the perfect place to learn a little bit about the history of plants and flowers. For dinner, we would go to Mary Mac’s Tea Room, an institution in Atlanta for genuine Southern fare.
Making history at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park; and stopping to grab lunch at the Krog Street Market, where we could find something unique among local vendors.
A day for art and culture —highlights would include a visit to the High Museum of Art and lunch at Bar Taco in Inman Park. The evening show or performance at The Fox Theatre would wrap up the night.
So, by the end of the week, after relentless work, we would unwind with a visit to Stone Mountain Park, hike up, and enjoy the scenic view. And of course, we’d top off that week with cocktails at The Roof at Ponce City Market and an unparalleled view of Atlanta’s skyline!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! My journey in the storage and organizing industry has been shaped by the incredible support and mentorship I’ve received along the way. First and foremost, I’d like to give a huge shout-out to my team at Henfield Storage. They are truly the backbone of everything we accomplish. I get inspired every day by their commitment and desire to deliver the best service and make sure that all our clients get the most from their storage experiences. Their dedication has kept pressing me to be creative and innovative in new ways to approach storage solutions.
I am also thankful to my family for pushing and encouraging me when it came to exploring my passion area in the field of organizing things and being very efficient. They have remained a solid source of support in both my journey towards becoming a better individual and also as a professional.
Another great book that has really impacted my way of organizing quite a lot is actually in line with my already long-standing opinion: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Marie Kondo, once again, brought out a fantastic perspective on how we can transform ourselves just as much as we transform our spaces by thinking about decluttering in a mindful way. I have actually been guided by her philosophy of keeping only what sparks joy while helping clients maximize their spaces effectively.
