We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Mathis-Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marina, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is to accomplish our mission which is to change the life of one actor/creator at a time by providing a platform to showcase their talents.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m so excited about what’s in store for Brown Girl Productions LLC. We started our first show called The Monologue Room LA which is a live showcase event for L.A.-based actors seeking a platform to perform, network & advance. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, we had to cut our in-person shows. It was unfortunate because we were in the process of planning for a massive show and “boom” it was over just like that. So we started the TMRLA-Live podcasts, where we interview actors, comedians, writers, producers, and creators in the industry. It hasn’t been easy with transitioning strictly to social media, but change is good and honestly, the podcast to me was the best move for us!!! I believe everything happens for a reason. Sometimes when we are faced with challenges we tend to give up too easily, but here at BGP we never give up. We have so many wonderful productions to come so please stay tuned.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angles is filled with so many great places you couldn’t possibly cover them all in a week. Our first stop will be Universal Studios.

The second stop will be something I love to do is hiking. LA has so many great hiking trails Hollywood Sign hike or Runyon Canyon hike would be my choice.

Last but not least we must hang out at the beaches in Cali (Santa Monica, Venice, Mahattan, and Malibu).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I also want to shout out to my wonderful husband Michael Kidd, Executive Producer at Brown Girl Productions. He’s the best husband a woman could ask for. He makes sure we execute in excellence. Thank you!
