Meet Mario Tardón | Actor and screenwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Tardón and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the little things. The little acts. No words can move me as one simple act of kindness. I am tired, exhausted of words. In the movie business everybody talks. And talks. And talks some more… but the truth is that very few people “do”. Nothing inspires me more than watching a person fighting for their vision, their goal. And the ultimate inspiration is when I see someone in power helping someone in need and getting nothing in return. I believe that what best define you as a person are the acts of kindness towards those in need and that will bring you nothing in return. Those people just … help. And that is what I try to do.
I would say that almost every week someone contacts me through friends or through social media asking for some kind of help or advice. And I always answer. It doesn’t mean that I have the right answer nor the answer at all. But at least, I answer them, I try to make them feel and seen in the hope that my decision inspires them to do the same for others.
Talk less, listen more and act, always act.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I´m not afraid to say that I am deeply proud of myself and my achievements. I come from a tiny village in Asturias, the north of Spain, and the fact that I am living in Los Angeles (for six years now… wow) makes me burst into happiness every time I think about it. I miss my people, those green mountains and the sound of pipes flying on the distant breeze but I wouldn’t change a thing of what brought me here. Every day I learn something about my self. I was talking to a dear friend yesterday about the pleasure he enjoys every night walking around his house in Santa Monica looking at the sky every night with his daughter and how that, in a way, makes him re-live his life all over again.
Something like that happens to me every time I see a sunset, I drive next to the ocean, I go to the movies, I self-tape for another role… my life is more exciting now than ever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to all my favorite hikes: Griffith Observatory, Glendale, Santa Monica, Malibu and the Palisades. Brunch at Casa del Mar (Santa Monica) or Clarks Street (Hollywood). We would go shopping to the best stores in Silverlake and Los Feliz. A first afternoon cocktail in Culver City or Venice and then bbq and karaoke at Korea Town. Of course we would drive by the Hollywood Walk of Fame but just to park at the the Roosevelt Hotel and jump into their pool. Visit the Lacma Museum, The Broad and, of course, the brand new Academy Museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my wife deserves all the credit for any little success I might have been able to achieve. Without her, nothing.
