Meet Marion Fontaine | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marion Fontaine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marion, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I want to be inspiring, I want to be proud of both my career and my personal life.
Getting a role, or being a part of a movie that will touch and change a generation. I work so someone one day can come to me and say ”this” changed me!
And I mean it in any type of way, it can be by having a good laugh, or gathering a family or seeing a silverlighting…
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand could be described with these keywords: creative, resourceful, no budget, passion, a vintage touch and a lot of laughs.
My artistic eduction started in France when I was 6 with the cello, then I got in a Conservatory for acting and singing.
I moved to New York for acting, singing and dancing right after high school and that was defiantly a challenge in my career.
This year working as both an actor and behind the scenes I learned a lot about management and really enjoyed exploring different jobs on a same production.
I love to collaborate, I get so excited and inspired when a friends contact me with a new idea and we start working together and make it happen with what we have, creating magic from our sparkling hands!
When it comes to my own projects I love to do a lot, going from writing, directing, playing and editing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love rediscovering my spots through may friends eyes when they come visit New York City!
I first take them to Max Soha for a Cappuccino to start the day, they waitress there is the best, and Juan makes that best drawing in your coffees.
A walk around the reservoir in Central Park is always cute, at any season,
Housing Works Bookstore in Soho, for a thrift store and book break they even have a coffee shop if you come to the right hours.
Get a drink at Holywater in the financial district the cocktails there are delicious!
The Club Gospel in Soho has hosted my best night out in the city.
On Wednesday nights I recommend Somewhere Nowhere on 25th streets for its Jazz nights, everyone dance and invite each other to join.
On Sunday nights the craftsman in Harlem if you want to hear some Jam sessions.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my parents, who were supportive from the start, sending me of to my first cello lesson when I was 6 years old. They both gave me the emotional and financial support to push me out of the nest and work on my craft.
I want to also say my friends who throughout the years came along and have always been honest with me, laughing at the good jokes and calling me out for what can be better. I have been lucky to be surrounded by people who could create such a healthy, loving and creative space around me.
