Meet Marisa Quintanilla | Green Beauty Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Quintanilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Pursing a life of freedom and purpose was the greatest drive behind my decision to be an entrepreneur. Our time on this earth is so precious and brief – I knew I had to find a way to align my work life with my values, and endeavor to create a business that allowed for both.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Wildland, we believe in a life unburdened by excess and elevated by positive energy. A mindful life spent connecting with nature, building community, and breathing life into our wild roots.
Inspired by the multi-faceted healing power of nature, Wildland is redefining the paradigm of multi-use by creating highly adaptable, elegant, and effective formulas for mind and body. A high vibe solution for those seeking to live light and live luxuriously.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them on a roadtrip! One of the coolest things about living in LA is the proximity to beach, mountains, and desert – in one day you could both surf AND ski! Incredible. Personally, I prefer snow-shoeing to skiing, so I would hop in the car and take us to Idyllwild. Only 2.5 hours from LA, but it feels like a world away. Idyllwild is quaint mountain town above Palm Springs – a hidden gem not known to most Angelenos who tend to head to Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear when they seek a mountain escape. What sets Idyllwild apart from the other two more popular mountain towns is the art and music scene. With that in mind, an ideal day in Idyllwild would begin with locally roasted coffee at Black Mountain Coffee in Oakwood Village paired with a fresh locally baked breakfast sandwich from Raven Hill Bagels across the street. After brekky, browsing around “midtown” Idyllwild would be the idyllic thing to do – picking up fresh florals from Mountain Poppy, a book from Speakeasy Bookmarket, and a locally handcrafted candle & body mist from Wildland to take back to the cabin. Speaking of cabins – Wildland has curated 6 unique vacation rental properties in Idyllwild – the most popular being the “Be Well Yurt” which sits on a flowing creek and provides a unique and luxurious glamping experience just 10 minutes away from some of the best hikes the mountain has to offer. “Summit Trail” at Idyllwild Regional Park is a moderate-to-challenging hike up to a gorgeous vista – not to be missed! After a day of forest bathing, I would take guests to happy hour at Wine Finch (specializing in natural, biodynamic wines) followed by dinner and live music at Cafe Aroma, and a nightcap at Taryn’s Pub – a local favorite!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, this is awkward. But the truth is – I would love to shout out my soon-to-be-ex-husband Daane Griffeth, who was my steadfast partner in all things WILDLAND the last 5 years. It was his passion for entrepreneurship that initially set us on a path of creating a life of freedom and purpose. I am deeply proud of what we built together, and none of it could have happened without him.
