Meet Marissa Gill | Actor and model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Gill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marissa, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think I’ve always lived my life with a lot of risk. In my opinion, no risk no reward as cliche as that may sound. I have always had big dreams and aspirations, I think if you ever decide to follow your dreams you are taking a risk. When I first decided to follow my heart and pursue a career in acting I had to drop everything with zero knowledge of the industry and no idea how to navigate or even know where to start. I basically woke up one day and decided to stop settling, I was going to follow my real dream and not stop until I succeed no matter how long it took. After just a year of acting I have worked on so many different sets and already accomplished so much. I wake up everyday happy I took that risk.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always been an artist from a very young age. It first started off with drawing, and sketching. The first time I did a portrait of my brother and my family was so impressed. I kind of always was the artsy child, I loved anything artistic. I did my first play when I was 7 and had the time of my life, which is what made me realized I loved acting, but I never had it in me to actually go for it. I went to college pursuing something completely different, I always had the thought in the back of my head that I wanted to act but had no idea where to start and thought it was impossible to start this late. My life was kind of at a hard place a year ago and I woke up and decided to change it. I started researching acting schools and decided acting was going to be my future. It was not easy by any means but it just felt natural to me. I started applying for different roles and not long after I booked my first Feature film supporting role. I booked this role without any acting school experience and it was my first self-tape I had ever sent in, I knew absolutely nothing about the industry at this time. Then I got a call back a few weeks later and that was unreal, I felt confidant in myself knowing that my first self tape landed me a call back but did not think there was anyway I would land the role. Two weeks later I got an email asking for the final call back, It was in person with the producer and writer. I was so nervous but had an instant connection with them and I felt good but still wasn’t sure I would land the role. I got the call 3 weeks later they said that after a long decision they would love me to play the role. This feeling was unlike any feeling I’ve ever experienced, I was on cloud 9 as they say. Ever since then I have done many films and I’m looking forward to all the other opportunities to come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In LA theres so much going on. I love going to Malibu its so beautiful there. I also really enjoy going out to eat, there are so many great spots to eat. Some of my favorite spots are Perch in downtown LA, it is a rooftop restaurant and bar and its absolutely beautiful, the views are unreal. I also really love Desert 5, its a rooftop bar and they have a great vibe and awesome view. My favorite spot on a Friday night has to be The Rhythm room in downtown, they have amazing live music, so many board games and great cocktails. In Los Angeles I love exploring and riding a bird ( electric scooter) around its just so much fun, it makes me feel like a kid again.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank my mom for always supporting me and giving me encouragement and love for everything I do. I remember every time a film or video came out she was so excited and showing everyone. Since I was little she always believed in me and thought I was a star, way before I ever thought any of this was possible. Another person I would love to dedicate this shoutout to would be my best friend Sabrina Kirkpatrick, she has always been so supportive of me and believed I was meant to be in front of the camera. When I told her I was going to start acting her exact words were ” its about time” there was no shock at all. The way she reacted really gave me that push I needed to have the confidence to get in there and start auditioning and booking roles. Lastly I would also love to thank my amazing management A Greek God Ent. for signing me and believing in me. Abraham Lopez, my manager always gives me great advice and helps me navigate the entertainment industry in the best way. I have grown so much in my acting skills over the time I’ve been signed and will continue to grow and become the best actor I can be.
