We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Tuer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marissa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The key to success of both it’s peachy and now Cultivate & Conquer, has everything to do with ONE important factor… core values. I’ve built it’s peachy on a system of values that have carried through to my next business. Our culture tends to overlook the importance of having a strong value system and I want to be a part of that change. My business is built on integrity, honesty, genuine relationships, kindness, hope, commitment, loyalty and philanthropy. Everything I do in business is based on these values.
Why are values so important to me? Values are inclusive, they break down barriers and bring people together. Values build trust and human connection. Values are what matter at the end of the day when you put your head down on your pillow, they are what matters if money was taken out of the equation, they are what matters when you get to the top and you look around knowing you didn’t have to sacrifice it all to get there.
So how do you figure out your values? Your core values are who you are deep down in your core. Values are what matter to you when everything else is stripped away. Values don’t have an “on” and “off” switch… who you are at your family dinner table, should be consistent with who you are in the boardroom (maybe with some extra grit).
A career or business built on poor values is not stable, at some point it will crumble. But, a business built on a strong foundation of values will withstand any storm AND be even more fulfilling at the top. We all know people want to work with and purchase from people they like, know and trust. That trust begins with aligned values. Again, values instantly break down those barriers. When two individuals value systems line up, it opens the gates to trust.
My business partner of Cultivate & Conquer, Amanda Fritscher, and I were not looking to get into business together. But, when our goals and values aligned so seamlessly… it was impossible NOT to work together. Individually we are powerful but together we are unstoppable.
Having a strong value system is a GAME CHANGER in business. It is what sets you apart from everyone else. This is accomplished through being transparent with your teams, employees, and clients. If you are selling the same product as the person next to you, but you share your story and your purpose behind WHY you sell the product that you do, you will WIN every single time. Our Cultivate & Conquer members know exactly what our values are because 1. They are shared on our website. 2. We talk about them consistently and intentionally. 3. We demonstrate those values through our actions.
And lastly, my favorite part about core values is that it has a ripple effect. Values should begin in our home, carry through to our friend circles, out to our business, our clients, and eventually out to their families and friends… Every single person has influence whether they realize it or not. Use that influence to be a good person and brighten up someone else’s day.
I attribute the success of it’s peachy and Cultivate & Conquer to my strong value system.
As John Maxwell says, “WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THE CHANGE, WE HAVE TO BE THE CHANGE.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Cultivate & Conquer is a movement of entrepreneurs who are ready to elevate their business through innovative education, purpose-driven coaching, and authentic relationships. We offer webinar trainings and some in-person events that include leadership skills, business coaching, mindset training, accountability, productivity hacks, branding & marketing, social media tips & tricks, and genuine relationships. The membership based business came about almost by accident. In one of our many brainstorming sessions, Amanda Fritscher and I, were discussing ways to support business owners and our local community, What originally started as an event for it’s peachy, had quickly transformed into its own business. There was such a need for what we had created for entrepreneurs/business owners, that we could barely keep up. So many people have ideas or side-hustles but don’t know where to begin, or business owners that have hit a plateau and feel stuck, or business owners that just need extra training in specific areas such as leadership or social media marketing. We were just doing what we love to do, help others, and it’s quickly turned into a successful business in just a few short months.
We work harder and with more urgency than anyone else we know. It’s not easy or simple, but when two people are as determined as we are and have the value systems in place that we do… it’s unstoppable. And people see that. They want to be a part of a movement and we’re here to bring them with us. We’re not meant to do life alone, we’re meant to do life together!
We’re excited to continue to help entrepreneurs and motivated individuals tap into their strengths, give them the tools and resources to reach their goals and ultimately help them succeed. It’s what drives us to do what we do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re new to the area or visiting Temecula, CA… first of all, welcome! You are in for a treat in beautiful Temecula Valley. We have so many great restaurants, wineries, and small businesses to shop.
With nearly 50 wineries in Temecula Valley Wine Country, you’re bound to have an incredible experience. You can begin your day with a hot air balloon ride before heading to brunch at a local winery. Schedule a few wine tastings and tours throughout the afternoon. If you’re a golfer, you have great options to choose from including Journey’s End at Pechanga and Temecula Creek Golf Club. Once the sun sets and you’re ready to enjoy a nice dinner or night out, Old Town Temecula has you covered. Are you feeling a steak house, authentic Mexican, farm to table, Mediterranean? Maybe an after dinner speakeasy at The Burgundy Club, Thompson and Twain or Apparition Room?
If you do visit, make sure to look out for any current it’s peachy events happening around town!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business partner, Amanda Fritscher, deserves an incredible shoutout! She is the most genuine, loyal, supportive friend and partner. I am forever grateful to have her by my side and together, change the world!
