Meet Maritza Bollain y Goytia | Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maritza Bollain y Goytia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maritza, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Continuous investment in my education. Every new tool, skillset, and knowledge I acquire has a ripple effect to all aspects of my life. I define success as the harmonious dynamic expansion of my business, my personal life AND the results of the loving people I work with through holistic health approaches.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I combine Functional and Chinese Medicine approaches with neuroscience-backed techniques to support my clients in overcoming anxiety and trauma so they can experience optimal mental and physical resilience. The evolution of my practice has come with challenges but always with healthy challenges, highlighting my personal growth as the most fundamental aspect to the success of business. I believe that the be the greatest ( and most rewarding!) Lesson – working on your inner world will optimize your external world ie business. This is the why behind the name of my business The Wayin – the path to healing always starts from within.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooooh! What a fun question! We would DEFINITELY be eating at Erewhon, Mother Tongue and Gracias Madre. Hang out in Topanga. Hike Fryman Canyon, Los Leones and Eaton Canyon. Workout, sauna and pool day at Heimat. Hangout at Tea at Shiloh. Attend a Soundbath at The Nest. And maaaaybe squeeze in a 2 night stay at Two Bunch Palms.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother. As early as I can remember, my mother always instilled in me the belief that I could accomplish anything I ever wanted. I know it feels cheesy and a bit generic, but for me now as an adult, I realize the impact of having that belief engrained me. Primarily because I grew up in the outskirts of El Paso, Texas – a sleepy border city where most people, repeat cyclical and familiar patterns for generations. Secondly, coming from a low socioeconomic background and growing up on food stamps and scarce resources, my mother ensured me that although those were my current circumstances, I could choose to live life in very different circumstances. So a forever shoutout to my mom – she built me differently; to create impact, heal generational trauma and transmute the genetic line.
