Meet Mark Nichols | Owner / Architect of MNichols Design

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, what principle do you value most?
Listening to the Client to help them achieve the best version of their vision. In starting my own Architecture Practice, I wanted to provide design services that didn’t adhere to one fixed Architectural Style, but instead were flexible and could deliver thoughtful design solutions to whatever the Client was envisioning.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Architecture Practice, MNichols Design, is unique in that it takes a high design and high level of service approach that is typical of luxury custom homes projects and applies it to all types of residential projects of all different scales — from Single Family Garage Conversion ADUs to large Mixed-Use Multi-Family developments of 150 units or more. I provide an all-inclusive approach, which means there’s no limit to the number of iterations or visualizations throughout the process — we design until we get it right…just how the Client is envisioning it. It’s a boutique approach made available to a wider Clientele that seeks to ensure high quality residential design is implemented in Los Angeles.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is a region more than it is a City, so I would plan a trip that captures the essence of this area — some time on the coast, some time in the Santa Monica Mountains, and then exploring the different urban hot spots from Santa Monica, to Culver City, to Downtown Los Angeles, and maybe Silverlake if our mustaches are groomed properly.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success as an Architect is intertwined with the companies that I have worked for on my path as a designer. A big shoutout is due to KAA Design Group and Baylis Architects who provided inspiring and supportive workplaces that allowed me to grow as an Architectural Professional. I got to absorb great design while working at these two firms and my work will always be influenced by my time at each awesome office.
