We had the good fortune of connecting with Markell Leo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Markell, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is very healthy in my opinion. they make you grow. I Like to go after the things that I can imagine in my vision.
Also I love when people say something can’t be done. It makes me rise to the
challenge and prove them wrong.

Risk has played a very big role in my life and career. If I am nervous about things I
want to do, usually that means it’s something good for me Lol. Because of risk
I have risen to the top of my acting classes when I was the last student with skills.
It has also help me become a very good Dancer. I Went from Having no rhythm
to making dance videos in two months when I Moved to Hollywood several years back.
Plus I made a quick decision to jump on a Grey Hound bus from Memphis, TN to Los Angeles
within a couple of days. It was kind of scary but I am too driven to worry about the unknown.
Singing is next for me, no can imagine me singing Lol. But I do. Markell Leo the Actor, Dancer and Singer. Lol

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an Actor and Dancer. As an Actor what sets me apart from others is I love to play characters that go deep into your imagination and that are complex. I’ll take you with me as i make them filled with life. You really don’t know what my characters will do. That’s why i am deep into character study as an actor and what sets me apart from most actors. The psychology of how my characters think is what people are starting to give me praise for. I am very thankful for that. So yes I would say it is very unique in how i work as an actor and i love it.

Growing as an actor is what excites me most. Always learning about nature, people, and the world around me.
I talk to a ton of people to see how they view the world and life which is always different in a certain way than i
do. So i find that very interesting. And as a dancer i am mostly freestyle in Hip-Hip, pop with a little choreography. Take Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, a little Usher with southern vibes and all that creates Markell Leo Lol.

I got to where i am by just a lot of hard work throughout the years. Also my mother told me to never give up when i was a young child. And yes Giving every fiber of my soul to getting better
in my craft as an actor. There were Many long nights studying acting books with my twin brother Martrell until mid night. Although dancing is something I have learned in recent years i have worked very hard on that also.
These skills were definitely not easy. I sucked at the beginning with both acting and dancing. Making mistake after mistake. But i put in overtime or overnight practice i guess you can say when most of my friends were out
partying. I sacrificed a lot of parties in Hollywood also lol. But i guess that’s why people in the industry are starting to take notice of me.

Keep pushing is my moto. And even if you have a 9-5 job keep pursuing your dreams. I want people around the world to know that you can come from poor neighborhoods like i did and become
someone who’s achieving their goals and helping people along the way like i am. I would like the world to come along with me as i continue to tell stories from movies , television, and my performances. I hope to bring Humanity just a little closer together to remind you that we all are human. So welcome to Markell Leo’s world, Let’s take a ride.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Downtown LA. I would take my friends to the Pantry restaurant in Downtown LA. They have an old school vibe with some southern and mid western dishes. Then i would take them to the Grove
in the shopping centers around the Fairfax area. Then we would go hit up Venice beach for a little basketball
an fun in the water at the beach. The Griffith observatory in Hollywood would be a site to see as well for them.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If it wasn’t for the Almighty creator I would not be talking with you guys now. I also want to give big credit to my Mother, Lucille Grant for always believing in
me. My Twin brother Martrell for setting goals with me every single day. All my brothers
and sisters and family for their support. My cousin Kevin Wren, He always showed me
how to think about things and achieve what I wanted in Life. One of my mentors Wendy
Alane Wright. She showed me how to learn and navigate the business side of Hollywood.
Actor Amin Joseph. He gave me very important advice my first year in Hollywood in acting. Big shoutout to Amin.
