We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlon Toney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marlon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was looking to create a space reflecting my creativity and my art. A welcoming and intimate atmosphere in the heart of West Hollywood.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being influenced by my grandpas art and the countless travels with my grandma to the German Black Forests and Harz National Park as a child Im not surprised that my art is mostly nature motives. Florals, Animals and Landscapes are what I’m drawn to the most. My tattoo designs are delicate fine lines in black & grey style making each of them a piece of art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Me and the Family love the beach every time we have someone visiting from out of state or country we always take them to the beach. Of course Venice and Santa Monica are a must with a stop at Cha Cha Chicken for some foods and vacation vibes.
Los Angeles has some of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in the heart of Korea Town. Not only is the food good but a visit always turns into a full experience. Our favorites are Eight KBBQ on Western and Quarters on 6th and we have taken friends and family to those restaurants on multiple occasions.
The Angeles National Forest is a magical place with many hikes and beautiful views. As a contrast to the beach and the busy vibe of Koreatown I love to take visitors on a hike in the National Forests like the Trail to Echo Mountain.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandpa Francesco who is Italian and moved to Germany as an adult where he met my grandma. He is an outstanding artist who does the most amazing acrylic paintings of landscapes, he sells his work on flea markets till today and he recently turned 92. Growing up surrounded by art and artist really made me who I am today and I am very proud to have him as my grandpa.
