We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Camargo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, what’s your definition for success?

For some people they merely define success as just money or lots of things. Those are obviously not inherently bad but can sometimes lead individuals down a path of emptiness. I was taught that success is when you’re able to help others through your gifts and passions. During that journey the ability to not let life keep you down for long and rise above those troubling times is what I believe makes someone successful. It’s simple when everything is easy. In my opinion you can’t truly have success if you don’t have a little adversity in your life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

To be honest I wouldn’t say there is anything dramatically different about what I offer with my role as a Director of Sport Performance. I know I’m good at what I do but there are also lots of other great people out there. I have no ego. There are much smarter people than me. But I’ve always tried my best to focus on what I can control. Stick with that mindset and just be very consistent. I genuinely want to help others. Help them reach their goals and to feel part of something bigger than them. If I can use sport performance training or training in general that makes me feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose. I’m excited about the future of the people around me at our company and for my wife and I. I have a goal of creating a dynasty for my family and work place. There have been recent events that have opened doors I never thought would open. That was not easy- there were times where I felt too much doubt. Whether that was self created or from others stating their negative opinions. But if I learned anything is sometimes you have to navigate your way in certain environments for the greater good of staying focused. I would like the world to know that I’m transparent and passionate. I’ll say what I believe is true and if there is pushback then that’s okay. We don’t have to be on the same page but we do have to respect each other and find ways to keep progressing forward. Negativity does nothing beneficial. Instead of creating poor habits and decisions my take on that is acknowledge the issue and create more efficient opportunities that leads to optimal habits and outcomes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I love the ocean. The beach, the sound of the waves and just being in the beauty of the ocean. I love taking people to beaches such as Laguna Beach or San Clemente. Great thing about those areas there are lots of great spots to hangout on the beach: play sports, relax and or listen to podcasts/music. Generally when you’re near the ocean there are great spots for food that range from hidden little gems or larger businesses.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

The success I have had and hope to keep having is all from – My parents for creating the foundation of what it means to help and protect others. My wife for keeping me focused on what is most important and prioritizing my needs. My coaches from sports and mentors from the Strength and Conditioning industry. Most importantly my faith in Jesus Christ. Then the family members and friends who support my goals. All of that plays a pivotal role in my ability to want to be the best for everyone and lead with wisdom, patience and compassion.
