Meet Matthew Moreno | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue an artistic/creative career since I felt like this was the only outlet that I was really capable of excelling at. It also feels more satisfying and emotionally rewarding even just the process of creating art derived from my own mind. Having a community and friends that are very supportive of my creative endeavors also gives me the motivation of continuing the artistic career path. However, I mainly make art that motivates me and I want to able to share that same emotion with others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m very excited to share my improved musical craft and songwriting that I would never expected to create within the past year. I was definitely not as experienced as I am today, and I believe that it’s from the hours of playing instruments and having the privilege of musical solitary in my bedroom. I also feel that opening my mind to other genres and styles of musical composition have for sure created my palette and style of today. I do believe that it is extremely different to my pervious projects in the past and it honestly surprises me every day. Challenges that I was facing were the limited access of physical instruments and being able to create the sound that I am producing today. It definitely helps my creative drive/muscle to be able to touch and really feel the instrument that I am playing. However, I believe I am always encountering obstacles in my life even if it deals or doesn’t deal with my creativity. It’s definitely taught about not being closed minded about your creativity because of your limited access to instruments. At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter what you’re using to produce your art from its how beautiful it can be from creating the limitless from the limited. Like my homie Noah once said “Closing the door to my bedroom is opening the door to more possibility in my creative life.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, Fullerton doesn’t have a lot to offer other than a rad mexican vegan joint in Fullerton called Chicana Vegana that I tend to go to when I get super lazy to cook at home. However, Fullerton is a good epicenter to branch out to other outgoing things close by since I’m close to Los Angeles, the beach, and even the desert like Joshua Tree. So if had a homie driving or taking a plane to experience the depths of Southern California I would definitely take them to that mexican vegan spot (Chicana Vegana) in my hometown. The next day I would want to take them to Joshua Tree and really experience nature with very little limitations especially at night since I absolutely love seeing the clear night sky. After leaving the radical rock mountains of Joshua Tree I would want to let the city boy out of me and take them to LA and eat some more outstanding vegan food and explore the depths of the city. I know that I’m a big foodie especially being vegan myself but LA and OC seriously have some rad vegan joints that I would recommend to people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know it sounds cheesy but I would like to shoutout to all my homies and family that I hold very close to my heart. Especially my sisters Priscilla, Heidi, and Damud for helping me grow as a person and helping me have different perspectives on this planet that we call Earth. My homies Noah Salem, Noah Prince, Ray Newlan, Nick Reyes, Junior Mesa, Francisco Contreras, Malachi Hudson, and a bunch of other talented homies that I feel bad that I couldn’t fit all together on this page but I appreciate regardless. I am glad to have all different types of creatives that are very talented and radical in my life!
