We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our goal is to create a platform for positivity. We focus on working with people to promote all different types of wealth, be it social, intellectual, emotional, creative, etc.

The brand is about the complexity of real life and being rich beyond just a financial means.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artwork is split between my studio practice and my brand, Rich By The Weekend. The studio practice is focused around painting, object making, and conceptual ideas, whereas RBTW serves as a means to express ideas graphically and reflect upon culture through tee shirts and garments commercially.

I’ve been very fortunate in terms of my formal education as well as being blessed with opportunities that have allowed me great experiences. I’m very proud of my studio and the resources I’ve been allowed to have access to.

I’ve gotten to where I am through hard work and being relentless toward the pursuit of my goals. Before I got my studio I would literally say yes to every job no matter how big or small. I took every dollar I had from art sales and work and invested it in equipment that allowed me to scale my art projects and capabilities.

I think you can learn a lot about someone’s character (including one’s own) by seeing what they do when no one is watching.
I have to believe that hard work and consistency will always win in the long run. The one thing all successful people have in common is that they all have their own story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t know about a week long itinerary, but I’ll layout some things that I like. Sonora Town
Grilled Fraiche
Raffi’s
4 vientos
Kombi
Cook Book
Phillipe’s for breakfast and also lunch
Cafecito
Guisado’s
Ruin Pair
Cemitas Poblanas El Sapito
Jumbo’s
Bohnhoff Lumber
The Pit LA
La Loma Projects
Griffith park for skateboarding and hiking
Chevy Chase
VAPA
COSTCO

Would definitely share a lot of roadside meals in the back of my truck

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my mom, followed by my friends, family, and all of my homies that ACTUALLY believe in and support what I’m doing when no one else is watching. Big ups to KE3F for being shoulder deep in RBTW. And shoutout to all of the people we’re yet to meet and connect with.
