We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Sauvé and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite saying is “The pendulum always swings back.” This one is important to me for many reasons. It reminds me to stay grounded, and doesn’t let my highs get too high, or my lows get too low. Life happens, one minute you’re on top, the next you’re down. It’s essential to keep a healthy equilibrium and stay focused on what’s really important. For me, it’s my family and friends. In a world of ever changing variables, they remain my constant.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most actors reason by analogy, I reason from a first principles perspective. That’s what sets me apart. My focus wasn’t local, it was global. I was getting on planes to promote the short films I starred in, flying all over the world. I won over 50 Best Actor awards internationally; I was nominated against Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy nominated actors. I’m reaping the fruits of my labor from moves I made years ago. I play chess not checkers. I struggled for many years with my sobriety. I found acting after I got sober. I want people to know that recovery is possible. I was thirty-three years old when I got my first audition. When God puts a desire in your heart, it isn’t a conference call. It’s specifically for you, so ignore the background noise and follow your heart. It’s never too late to start over.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Next month my daughter Anne is coming for a week long visit, (she’s my best friend too). We will be going to Nobu in Malibu, Venice Beach, and Palm Springs for a night. The Santa Monica Pier is a special place for us, so that’s a must see, and we’ll hike to the Griffith Park Observatory. I want to take her to the Getty Museum as well. She has her own list of things she wants to do, so it’s going to be a fun week. I really love the vibe of Venice Beach. Anne is a foodie so we will be eating well! BOSS Sushi in Beverly Hills is a must that week for sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people, but my shoutout is dedicated to Malina Saval who is a Features Editor at Variety. I got on her radar in the fall of 2021. She’s interviewed pretty much every movie star on earth. When she told me that I possess the same x-factor they do, it was life changing for me. She’s been an incredible support, and a great friend. I’m forever grateful to her for believing in me.
