We had the good fortune of connecting with Maurice & Kimberly Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maurice & Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting our business was that we wanted to produce fresh home-made desserts with simple ingredients that everyone could enjoy without preservatives or ingredients you have never heard of. We always knew one thing was certain, everything tastes better made from scratch.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We pay attention to every detail and focus on producing desserts of the highest quality that everyone is sure to enjoy. We are excited about launching vegan and diabetic friendly options in the near future so stay tuned for that. We got to where we are as a business with trial and error. It was definitely not easy, but we knew that we could never give up on something we loved to do. Any mistakes that were made were just opportunities to learn, move forward and grow. Lessons that we learned along the way were to always be prepared, never procrastinate, stay organized, and be on time. We want the world to know that it’s never too late to start something you are truly passionate about. Stop thinking about it and just do it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we had to show our best friend a good time in LA we’re going straight to in-n-out to enjoy some delicious hamburgers that aren’t available everywhere. We would go enjoy some tasty street tacos for taco Tuesday. Throughout the week, we would enjoy all the incredible food that LA has to offer. We would also go to Malibu to take nice stroll on the beach, Santa Monica Pier to enjoy some fun arcade games and we can’t forget about visiting Disneyland. On the weekend we would go support small businesses at any local pop up events. You guys should definitely book a vacation and come check out LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to our niece Sophia Gallegos. From the very beginning, she has always given us the courage to not be afraid to follow our dreams. Sophia always raved about our chocolate chip cookies, which gave us the confidence to start selling our cookies and other desserts. Through word of mouth, she even helped us book our first catering event. We are grateful and without Sophia, Made From Scratch would not be where it is today.

We would also like to dedicate this to Vanessa Sanchez the CEO of Antojitos By Vee. She is a big inspiration, amazing mentor to Maurice & I, and also an amazing friend that we can always count on! We will forever be grateful for her.
