We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxwell Banton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maxwell, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Great question! You know risks can pertain to so many different situations. There are risks that can facilitate growth or risks that aren’t that smart like driving without a seatbelt for example. I believe it is first important to distinguish just what type of risk your’e taking and what the different outcomes. I personally consider myself to be a very risky person because on the other side of that risk there is usually a reward. As someone in their late 20’s I believe especially now is the time to take big risks in life and if doesn’t workout to learn from them and keep moving forward. I look at all the big entrepreneurs and creatives, they all took risks to become what they are now. They say, ” no risk it, no biscuit” which I find to be very true. Taking risks has enhanced my life, each time I take a major risks and it workout, it feels like an upgrade. I’ve always had the attitude that, I would rather try and it not workout then to never know if it could have worked out. The fear of not knowing what could’ve happened to me is greater than the fear of failing which propels me to take on risks more often.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a travel filmmaker and I make entertaining and informative videos on destinations all over the world. My story and personality set me apart from others everyone has their own unique story and perspective which only you can tell. I’m very excited to announce that I will be filming a travel series in South America over the course of a year and will begin production in the next few weeks! This will all be posted on my Youtube- Max Takes On The World. It took a lot of grit and perssaverance to get to where I am along with taking some big risks. Obstacles are going to come you know that’s invertible, but I learned it’s most important how you respond to them. I’ve learned to focus more on the solution than the problem. I’ve also learned to be flexible and just know that there are some things out of your control. My story, my brand , and everything I’ve done would not of been done without out my faith in God so I want to tell everyone to keep the faith even when times get hard because having faith worked for me, and it can work for you too!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA has so much to do and see, but if I had a week to go to the best places, first I would have to spend a day at the beaches in Santa Monica. I would make sure to take them to third street promenade and stop at the bungalow afterwards for some food. I always take all my friends to the Venice boardwalk that’s one of the most iconic spots in LA. In Venice we’d have to get lunch at Teddy’s Tacos which is amazing. The next few days I would spend time with them exploring Beverly Hills and Malibu. I would have to show them Rodeo drive for sure! Hikes are a huge part of LA and my favorite hike is Tuna Canyon in Malibu, it has gorgeous views and it’s not too long of a hike. The best cheesecake I ever had in my life is at a place called Harriets in Inglewood, and that would be on the list for sure! Palos verdes is a little south of LA and if we had extra time I would take them to see the amazing views and hikes there. Oh, and central market in DTLA we would have to squeeze in there too, that food is amazing!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would really love to give a big shoutout to Jesus Christ my lord and savior. I realize that I could not have achieved everything that I acheieved if it were not for Jesus playing a big role in my life and comforting me through the tough times. I would also like to shoutout Ed Mylett who’s podcast gives me inspiriation and all the information I need to perform at my highest level!
