We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg Dela Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meg, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe being an entrepreneur is all about taking bold and calculated risks. “Calculated” being the key word, you can’t be reckless. When I make decisions, I make sure that I educate myself and research everything I need to be able to take that risk. Lots of trial and error and lots of learning from other people who have already done it before.

My career and life has changed when I finally trained my mind to be comfortable with taking risks. There is no losing — if you succeed… you move forward, and if you fail, you learn a lesson.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide mobile beauty. I am a luxury brand, my prices are more expensive but I definitely make sure that my service is top-notch, I provide BEAUTIFUL hair and EXCEPTIONAL service. Experience includes me traveling to my client’s locations and sometimes even them flying me out to other states and countries! some places I have been flown out to — San Francisco, San Diego, Cancun, Lake Tahoe, Beverly Hills, etc.

I am known for doing glam, luxurious hairstyles for the royal and timeless brides.

I moved to Vegas from California in 2018 and had to build my business and network from the ground up. It was definitely rough, new environment, new people, and new clientele. Also, since I work mostly in weddings or events, I never get a weekend off — so I had to sacrifice time with my friends and family. There was definitely a lot of family gatherings that I missed. I worked every single day — no day-offs so I can build my brand quickly and effectively. In two years I was able to penetrate the market and make a name for myself out here in Vegas — definitely, a lot of struggles but everything was definitely worth it

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
These would be my top picks: Visit:
1. Red Rock Scenic Drive
2. Neon Museum
3. Planet 13
4. Any Cirque Show! My faves are Ka and Michael Jackson <3

Food:
1. Raku – Japanese Tapas OMG so good
2. Secret Pizza
3. Lotus of Siam
4. Barry’s Steakhouse
5. Peppermill

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a lot of people who are responsible for where I am at right now, my family, great clients, friends, people on Social Media etc.
But one person that has been a very important pillar in my success would be my mentor, Nikolina. I met her in 2018 when we were introduced by one of my hairstylist friends. She agreed to be a model to one of the masterclasses I attended. She has inspired every day since then. I watched her as she built her business from the ground up, through the pandemic and every other adversity.

One day, I finally asked her if she was open to mentor me, she said yes and everything has shifted in my life since then. Forever grateful for her.
