We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Gallegos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is being really consistent. Putting out content consistently is the #1 way to grow an organic following on any social media platform. I’m also really consistent with reaching out to brands for collaborations, engaging with my followers, and coming up with new ways to promote myself. When it comes to success, in any area, I believe doing the right things consistently will always yield you the best results.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to being creative, I’ve learned a few hacks along the way. One hack I’ve learned, is when you don’t know what to create, the best thing you can do is sit down with a piece of paper and pen and simply brainstorm ideas. Ideas almost always come.

One thing that sets me apart from others is constantly trying to be myself and not copy others. I think it’s natural to get inspiration from other creators, but I understand the value of being myself. There is only one of everyone out there and that automatically makes you truly unique!

When looking back at my professional journey, I feel like it was and wasn’t hard all at once. It was hard in that I didn’t have a clear cut path or direction, but it wasn’t hard, in that I feel like I’ve been very blessed with the support and opportunities that have come into my life. The first big challenge I had to endure professionally is that I didn’t know what career I truly wanted. I went to Saint Mary’s College of California and got a degree in Business Marketing because I thought I wanted a typical 9 to 5 marketing job. Within 3 months, I got let go from my first job out of college as a “Social Media Coordinator.” I took up babysitting while applying for more jobs, but 9 months later I accidentally went from babysitter to full time nanny with no desirable marketing jobs in sight. I was frustrated with my current “professional life”, and I sadly realized I was already frustrated with my future professional life, because I din’t even want any of the 9 to 5 jobs I was applying for. That’s when I decided to make a change. I sat down and thought to myself “If I could do anything in the world, because money was no object, what would I do?” I knew without a doubt it was to be an influencer. I used to think being an influencer was something unattainable reserved for rich girls or models, but as soon as I started seeking out more information on how to actually become an influencer or “content creator”, I realized anyone could do it. After this realization, my next challenges were telling my boyfriend at the time, my mom, and the rest of my family and friends that being an influencer is the career path I wanted to pursue. I’m sure you can imagine the hesitance I got from everyone I told this to. After working up the courage to tell everyone this is what I would be pursing, the next obvious challenge was to figure out how to actually make money as a content creator and build my following. There were many challenges, but looking back at my 3 year journey is amazing because I have conquered all of my past challenges and am now making a full-time living off of my content creation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My mom, who is my best friend, is actually coming to visit me here in LA very soon! I’ve only lived in LA for about 3 months so I cannot say I am an expert on the most fun things to do around here, but every time my mom comes to visit we HAVE to get a Hailey Bieber Smoothie. I literally dragged her through the rain once to get my hands on one haha They are just so iconic and fun because you can’t get one out of the LA area and honestly I think they are so delicious! It’s also just so fun to walk around Erewhon because we don’t have one from where I’m from in Northern California. I love to look at their unique candy and wine selections as well as look at their personal care items. The produce is fun to stare at too 😉 My favorite restaurant in LA is Ysabel in West Hollywood as the vibes are just immaculate. Every corner is instagramable and they have a great music list playing in the background. Think dynamic trees wrapped in sparkling lights in an open courtyard. My all time favorite alcoholic drink is “The Rosalind.” If you like vanilla and hibiscus flowers, I highly recommend it!

My favorite cafe at the moment is Bravo Toast. It’s a very instagramable cafe. Their storefront is lined with pleated umbrellas and inside you’ll find modern archways lined with glassware. Their cafe is relaxing and their coffee is the best I’ve ever had! My favorite is the “Doheny Latte” and all their little toasts are so yummy and satisfying.

My next favorite thing to do is to go shopping down Rodeo drive, because it’s just so iconic, even if you don’t buy anything. I love to look at all the sparkling shops and get a sweet treat at Laudrée. Lastly, you have to see the ocean when you come to visit. I’ve been to Santa Monica a handful of times recently, but this time my mom and I are traveling to Malibu and Laguna Beach to mix it up a little bit. If you have some money to spend, going to Nobu Malibu is always a worth it splurge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Success definitely comes with the support of others. Other than my amazing family whom always supports me in my endeavors, there are a few books or online mentors I can give a shoutout to. “The Compound Effect” by Dan Hardy is the most valuable book I have ever read. He is the person who taught me that consistency and hard work is the real key to success. A couple of my other favorite books are “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. Both of these books have taught me how to acquire real wealth. They both taught me how to invest in myself to be financially better off in the future. Lastly, one of my favorite online mentors is Alex Hormozi. He has taught me a lot about the sheer quantity of work it takes to become successful, as a lot of people underestimate this when starting out.
