Meet Megan Gersch | Branding + Website Designer For Creative Visionaries

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Gersch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have a background as a graphic + web designer in the music industry. Throughout my 16+ year career, I had always freelanced on the side. Eventually, it got to the point where I would head to my 9-to-5 job and then do freelance work until I went to bed.

I recognized that there was clearly some demand for my work – since I was bringing in freelance clients without really any marketing at all. This is when I started to look into what it would take to do my freelance work on a full-time basis.

I loved the idea of making my own schedule and choosing the clients that I wanted to work with.

I stumbled across a targeted ad for a coach who taught how to thrive as an entrepreneur. I bought his course immediately and dove into the content – soaking up every bit of knowledge that I could about how to make this crazy endeavor work.

I set up a few of the components in my spare time (like my invoicing platform, my service offerings, etc.). Finally, I decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship.

Now – I get to help the most amazing, creative visionaries make more sales in their businesses through unique branding and website designs that stand out from the rest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I help creative visionaries make more sales and stand out in a BOLD way with custom branding and strategic website design.

It’s important to me to work with values-driven, rebellious brands who truly want to disrupt their industries.

I am very passionate about what I do, take great pride in my work, and am very detail-oriented. I go to great lengths to make sure that my clients are happy with the work that they commission. With me, you get a responsive, highly skilled designer that also knows the marketing side of things – which is critical for any business that is trying to increase their revenue and brand awareness.

I have a podcast with one of my best friends, Lauren Tassi. It’s called Your Sparkly Brand, and it’s a branding + marketing centered show designed to inspire and empower entrepreneurs with the upleveling strategies that they need to grow their empires.

I have to attribute some of my success to getting visible on social media – specifically Tiktok.

In the beginning of taking my business full-time, it was tough. I was hustling to do anything that I could to get my name out there and to win jobs. I had to do a lot of cold outreach, drop my business cards on community bulletin boards, and even reach out to friends – asking them if they knew anyone that might need my services.

Once I started creating Tiktok content, all of that changed.

Because I consistently show up with valuable content for my audience, they trust me. It’s an awesome way to showcase your expertise, share your work, bring them along on your journey and let them get to know you on a personal level.

Now, the majority of my leads come to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Head out to Malibu for a gorgeous day at the beach.

Get Quarter Sheets in Echo Park – some of the best pizza LA has to offer.

You’ve got to try Jeni’s or Salt and Straw for a sweet treat.

Check out The Broad Museum for some interesting modern art exhibits.

The Natural History Museum and Griffith Observatory are perfect for science lovers. Make sure to go to Griffith one of the nights that they have the giant telescopes out on the lawn for the chance to see some planets!

Finish out the nights with some live music or dancing (my favorite spots include The Echo / Echoplex and Gold Diggers).

I dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Jerry. He has been an incredible, supportive partner to me as I have navigated the journey of entrepreneurship. I’m so grateful that he’s been by my side through all the highs and lows. My success is just as much his success.
