We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I love this question. I think happiness is something we all strive for, all of us. But the way we go about it is often the problem. We intertwine it with our fears, expectations, limiting beliefs, narratives of others, the list goes on. This is a lot of the reason I do the work I do, to help guide others into their healing and finding fulfillment, the result is then happiness, living in flow.

For me, this means creating balance in all areas of my life, sticking to my boundaries, allowing play. The simple things bring me joy, like the breeze on a nice day, friends laughing, my pets, doing things that are a big “YES.” Life is so beautiful when you strive for fulfillment rather than creating a list of expectations, XYZ then I’m happy.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Holistic Life Coach. My purpose in life is to help others heal the body and mind through movement, meditation, and Ayurveda and creating space for unfolding Dharma, your life purpose. I have always been fascinated by psychology and how us humans think and function and been interested in the spiritual approach. My focus is on guiding you into healing the many layers of you through various tools, practices, and lifestyle changes, encouraging you to take accountability to empower you into being more in tune with yourself!

I started by teaching yoga sessions and soaking in so much knowledge from various instructors and educators. I allowed myself to first explore and play with the many skills and passions I had as I was finding my footing in the wellness space. I fell in love with Ayurveda, yogas sister science, a nature based system of medicine focused on healing and maintaining the quality and longevity of life, and balancing the mind and body. I love this practice as it disrupts the norm of putting us all in one box and instead of step by step directions it encourages accountability of your health, and allows you to explore and find balance in the many areas of your life (physical, mental, emotional, intuition).

Through my love of psychology, yoga and Ayurveda, mixed with my yoga clients coming to me more and more to learn, I followed the flow of my life into coaching. My hope is for us to heal ourselves not only for ourselves but for the world. To continue to grow and unfold the joys of life. We are the co-creators of our lives! I am so blessed to be able to work with others to help them be their best selves.

My advice to those wanting to follow their dreams are to go after them, no looking back! There will be obstacles, there will be fears, there will be those that say you can’t do it, but the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always believe in yourself and you will succeed. We all have a purpose that is unique to us all, we are here to raise consciousness in a way that only we can. You need that gift, you deserve that gift. And more so, the world needs your gift! In times of doubt, come back to that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is the best! There is so much to do and even more to see. When my best friend visited last year we hit all the fun spots… the murals in the Arts District, restaurants in downtown and Koreatown, walking around Pasadena, LACMA, Venice Beach, and so much more!

My list of must dos:
~finding new spots to eat, there is such much great food here, from restaurants to trucks to street vendors
~checking out the different hiking spots and fun stairs
~museums like LACMA, Science Museum
~fun pop up museums and events
~farmers market

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One beauty of life is our connections to each other! I am so grateful to all of those who have shared space, been mentors, or touched my life without even knowing it. I would especially like to thank my friends and mentors Meena (YourSoulWarrior), JQ Williams, and Eleni Tsikrikas, without their love and support I would not have the growth I’ve had or be where I am today. Eternally grateful!
