We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meghan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have another career as a flight attendant but I still needed my artistic side to shine through. I’ve always had an artistic side to me, but struggled to make a career of it. Expressing my artistic/creative side through @JustWingingItbyMeg is a great way to be creative while continuing my career as a flight attendant.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started JustWingingItbyMeg right before the pandemic hit, so ended up having a lot of time to perfect my brand and make it my own. One thing that sets me apart from other folded book artist I have seen on Etsy or other platforms is that I take the extra time to paint the books to make them stand out more, creating an additional layer of art on each piece. I ran into a few challenges when I first started mainly because of the pandemic and the limited access to sales opportunities. But it also gave me time to perfect what I wanted my product to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is perfect since my best friend is coming next week and we are currently planning her trip. Right now some of the places we are planning to visit are the Getty museum , the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood sign hike, maybe Knotts Berry Farm and just relax at the beach in the South Bag area where I live. My best friend is much more of a foodie than I am and has a list of restaurants to visit in the LA area while she is here and I am leaving that part up to her.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents. They have always been super supportive in all my creative endeavors. They will always help me find the books I use for my folded books even if I have to travel across the country to pick them up!
