Meet Meri Sarafyan | Event Decorator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meri Sarafyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meri, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We achieve what we prioritize, and my biggest priorities have always been to do what makes me happy, and to have a healthy work-life balance, When you make your priorities non negotiable, you leave yourself no choice but to figure it out, and believe me, you will figure it out. I knew that the only way to achieve this would be to start my own business, but I had no idea how I was going to do it or what I was going to do. There was a lot of trial and error, but once I stumbled upon the event industry, I knew that I had found a forever home.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business allows me to be a part of people’s happiest moments, and being a small part in providing that happiness for them makes my work feel like more of a hobby than a job. I put so much heart into everything I do, and I think that’s the factor that sets me apart. I would say my favorite part, and the thing that I’m most proud of, is gaining my clients trust and loyalty, and having the privilege to see their beautiful families grow year after year,
I have been in business for a little over 4 years now, and although it hasn’t always been easy, it has always been so worth it! I truly believe that when you do something with love, enthusiasm, and most importantly confidence, there’s nothing you can’t overcome. Challenges will always present themselves in any field of work, but I’ve learned to always trust myself to figure it out, even if I have no idea how I’m going to do it in the moment.
My story, what I stand for, and my brands story, are all the same and can be described in one word…positivity. Striving for constant positivity in my life is the key factor that pushed me to start my own business, spreading love and positivity became my favorite part of the business, receiving love and positivity from friends, family, and clients was what made my business grow, and instilling love and positivity to every current and future job is my mission. The world has enough darkness as it is, I strive to be a constant source of light.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite part about living in Los Angeles is the fact that you can live 100 different lives in the same day., and if I had a friend visiting, that is what I would want them to experience. One minute you can be surrounded by skyscrapers and experience the rush of DTLA, and the next you can be taking in the tranquility of the ocean in Malibu or going horseback riding in the breathtaking mountains of Griffith Park. The city is so alive, there’s so much to experience, and anything you can possibly want to do is about 30 mins away!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Having a good support system gives you such a huge boost in the business world. I have been so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who not only encourage me verbally, but also mention my name in rooms I haven’t stepped into and introduce me to opportunities I wouldn’t have stumbled upon myself. I wholeheardly believe that my business wouldn’t have grown in the rate that it did, if it wasn’t for my loved ones wanting to see me win and actively supporting me every chance they got.
