We had the good fortune of connecting with Merissa V. Grayson, Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Merissa V., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To have freedom. That’s always been the most important thing to me. Freedom in all aspects: freedom to create my own schedule and actually be available for things that matter to me the post, creative freedom, freedom to select the clients I work with, freedom to focus on my purpose and only do what I’m called to do, and of course financial freedom.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a not-so-average Entrepreneurial Family & Business Lawyer, Author, Speaker, and Problem Solver. Whose work is centered around Family, Personal, and Business Development.
I’m the founder and Managing Attorney of two law firms, The Law Office of Merissa V. Grayson, which exclusively handles Child Custody & Family Law matters, advocating for parents, children, and families who are navigating the family court system and The Collective – a full service Legal &Crisis Management Firm that focuses on representing Artists, Entertainers, Athletes, Celebrities, and others involved in high conflict, high net worth, or high profile cases.
The Business & Branding Division of The Collective helps new and seasoned Entrepreneurs & Entertainers make smart legal decisions that both protect their business & brand and align w/ their goals & objectives.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Me and my friends like to eat, listen to music, and dance, so I’d definitely start, pause, and end the day with good food.
LA has so much good food, so where we eat would really just depend on where we land and what we have a taste for. A lil seafood or soulfood is always good. Brunch is also a mess.
Rooftops, low key lounges, etc. are always on the agenda.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family. From my parents, to my brothers, to my husband and kids, and close friends who are like family. My circle is so amazing and no matter how outrageous my goals and vision may seem sometimes, they ALWAYS let me flow and operate in my genius zone, without naysaying, without question…even if inside they’re like “Man…this girl is outta her mind” lol
