Meet Mia Alvarado

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I feel strongly about staying true to who you are. It may come off as some sort of cliche to people but I feel a deep value in this saying. The reason behind this is because I struggle with the fear of judgement, just like anyone else would. However, I know that judgement is inevitable no matter who you want to be perceived as, which is why I would rather try my best to be authentic.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The best thing about art is that it can be perceived in various ways by different individuals. Therefore, what sets me apart from others is for the viewer to answer. I am currently most excited about learning more, there is so much for me to still learn about when it comes to film/ videography! From my perspective all of the work I have done so far, in the small amount of time I have been doing it for has not necessarily been easy. It has been a sacrifice at times but I am driven by passion to put my creative journey as a priority. Knowing that my dedication and hard work is going to be worth something. Lessons that I have learned so far are to stay true to yourself and to work on every shoot like it is your last. I would like people to know that starting something is never easy but to not get discouraged or blame others for trying.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start off the morning by going to Cafe NIDO to grab a coffee and one of there pastries, then I would head to Loz Feliz Flea Market to go shopping & Melrose, Stop by the Griffith Observatory, then end off with a night game at Dodger stadium and Villas Tacos afterwards.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have many people to thank in my life, who have helped the start of my creative journey. My parents are my biggest cheerleaders, there is no way to mention one without the other. They have both taught me hard work, perseverance and most importantly persistence. Without the two of them I would have never been able to reach out or work with all of the incredibly talented people I have worked with.
