We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Yarborough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe if you never take risks in life you will most likely always stay stagnant and that’s a feeling I never want to endure. When I was 19 years old I took one of the biggest risks and moved from Baltimore to LA all on my own. I did that because I have big dreams and I knew staying in Baltimore was not going to help me achieve those dreams. Of course taking risks comes with a lot of ups and downs but it’s those struggles that help you build character, confidence and a strong sense of self.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started chasing my modeling & acting dreams when I was very young. They both came very natural to me. I started acting out my story books and favorite movies when I was 5, and I walked my first runway at 10. I used to struggle with self esteem issues but when I got on stage all my fears and worries melted away because I was doing what I love. Being able to express myself through my art has helped me find my voice and who I truly am.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in LA would be Runyon canyon, the view is so stunning when you reach the top. I also love going to the Melrose trading post on Sunday and then walking around the area and trying new food. And if I want to go watch the sunset and see the stars driving up to Topanga is a must.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. My mom and dad have been supporting me and my dreams since I was a very little girl and I know it’s hard for all of us being so far away from each other. I just want them to know that I am so thankful for their love and that they are one of the biggest reasons as to why I’ll never give up.
