Meet Michael H. Forde: Public Health Professional & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael H. Forde and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael H., what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that I believed helped me succeed were consistency, determination, and association with people who want to see me succeed. Consistency looks like doing the same thing every day, but in small, manageable steps. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with big projects and goals from the start, but breaking things down piece by piece will pay off in the long run. Determination for me looks like not giving up when I feel like I want to throw in the towel and to keep trying to make things work – it’s only a matter of time before it happens. And last, being around the right people can make the difference between your success and your failure. Have people in your corner who believe in you, who inspire you to be better, who want to see you win. Those three habits allowed me to be where I am today and will continue to take me to more places in the future.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a public health specialist and author who serves as a leader in health communications and health disparities. I am dedicated to increasing the public’s awareness of health while encouraging and motivating individuals to embrace the changes necessary for climbing the stairs of success. I am most proud of my online platform that highlights encouraging messages to motivate others, as emotional and mental health are still important components of public health. Getting to where I am today was not easy, but it was with the help of my support team (close friends and family) that I made it. Graduating from high school at age 16, earning my bachelor’s degree at age 19, obtaining my master’s degree at age 22, and becoming a doctoral student at age 25 has been the ultimate ammunition to my personal mission to spread the message, through themes of health and wellbeing, that one’s potential is absolutely limitless.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting LA, he would need his travel hat on because I would take him to the spots that made me fall in love with LA. The list starts here: Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Walk of Fame, LACMA, the Staples Center, Venice Beach, and La Brea Tar Pits. Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood. Yamashiro Hollywood, India’s Tandoori Hollywood. And we’re going skydiving – Skydive Taft LA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my cousin Clayton Tuckett who has been a great support in my journey to success. He has not only provided encouragement and motivation for me on my toughest of days, but is a continual light in my pursuit for doing and being more in life.
