We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Medrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It was the only path for me. I picked up music so quickly and I already knew I didn’t wanna live a conventional lifestyle, it just made sense for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to consider myself a provocateur. I often have a hard time promoting my work because I make songs and visuals that are very sex-forward, challenging. We live in an age where conservatism is on the rise and I’m seeing my own community (lgbtq+) become ashamed of expressing their sexuality.

I’ve always been told that I say what others are thinking and I think that’s carrying my success. I’m proud of who I am and I want everyone who listening to me to feel the same. It’s hard sometimes, but it’s worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I recently moved the middle of Hollywood and we have a great spot in the middle of all the bars. We’d definitely pre-game at my place and then take a lyft to either silverlake (akbar is my fave) or hit the Bayou in Weho for cheap drinks & shots.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
