Meet Michael Shaun Sandy | Director, Actor, Writer, Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Shaun Sandy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael Shaun, what inspires you?
I’m an artist, so everything in the physical world inspires me.
I love humans with our complexities, our ability to create, and our desire to push the limits of what’s possible.
For example, the Internet has been available commercially for about 30 years, as a result, look how vastly different our world is!
10 years ago there was no social media, rides sharing, or digital money. Now we’re in a world where we can’t live without these tools.
I believe we are moving in an age of automated synthetic reality.
Meaning with the creation of artificial intelligence, virtual experiences, self-driving cars, and soon-to-be-flying cars, life as we know it will be different.
The world is changing at such a rapid pace, it’s fascinating to watch as things unfold.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally.
My company is called SMM, Sandy Multi-Media, we create work for all mediums, Film, TV, Music, and Social Media content creation.

I directed and produced a short film music video drama called Features. It screened at the Indie Night Film Festival at Man’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. And was voted into their top 11 films. It will have its debut online on Tubi later this year.

The next project I directed for SMM is FITNESS FOR All, our fitness TV show pilot.
FITNESS for All is a travel-based show, where we dive into cultural fitness and healthy trends from around the world. Our Pilot is about the conceptions of Pilates. It was recognized at the New Media Film Festival where it won, Best Pilot. The show will be released there this year on streaming platforms worldwide.

I am very excited about these next two projects that we’ve been working on. They are podcasts adapted from screenplays I have written.

My short story Orbital is a science-fiction podcast set in the fictional world of prosperity. It’s about a cynical cop who hates technology and gets partnered with an artificial intelligence drone to solve a mystery like a lethal weapon in the future.
It stars myself, Vincent Chimato, Bruna Bertossi, and a group of talented actors! You can listen to the “Clean” version of the Podcast now on all streaming platforms.

The Dirty version coming soon for digital download at the official website. https://orbitalprogram.com/
What makes this podcast interesting is, that accompanying the podcast is an original music album, a soundtrack created specifically for the podcast.
Orbital Music Experience Here:
Orbital was reviewed by podcast association critic, Kev from Tea in the Sahara and he gave it a glowing review!
Our follow-up project in production right now is called Springfield! Which is a comedy podcast, with musical elements, about a tiny town in Springfield, which becomes a drug hub for the Mexican Cartel. This has an amazing cast of actors and features some up-and-coming singers like FAUNA NICOLE singing the lead single from the Springfield soundtrack called Pretty Lies.

And lastly to cap off the slate for this year, which I’m so excited about is my passion project called A Killer’s Therapy. This is a live-action film about a Hitman who has a spiritual awakening.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would recommend the Warner Brothers studio tour, it’s always exciting to be able to see all the Batman in the Matrix memorabilia.
Then go on the Universal City Walk and the theme park, and do another studio tour to see Jaws and King Kong.
The Academy Awards Museum is an amazing place and great for movie buffs.
A highly recommended experience for people from outta town is going to live to a tape of a talk show like Jimmy Kimmel. What’s especially exciting about going to his show is, that it tapes during the day, and you might see yourself on tv that night!
Next, we would hit downtown, to catch a Lakers or Clippers game, stop by ESPN Zone, and see the Grammy’s Museum!
If you’re in Los Angeles, you have to hit the beaches of Santa Monica and eat Mexican food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I like to start by giving a shout-out to, Shout-Out LA magazine, and Chris Miller, I appreciate you giving me this space and platform to be able to express appreciation.
Start by giving a shout-out to all the Actors, Artists, and collaborators that I’ve been creating with over the last few years.
Whether it’s been TV pilots, Movies, Music Videos, or podcasts, I’ve been fortunate to work with some great people.
First, like to start by giving a shout-out to my collaborator Nakatomi Productions producing partner Vincent Chimato a friend, and talented artist in his own right. My cat-on-fire producing team, Richard Jacob, and Ryan Gibson, for their collaboration, artistry, and input.
Shout out to Christian Whitley, my sound engineer, with great musical talent.
Also a huge shout-out to Pirate Studios and Mikey Hammerton. Their studio space has been so beneficial to us in creating our audio stories and music. It’s an amazing and affordable space for artists to create and collaborate. It sounds like a plug, but they have been great to us. I recommend any musician to use their space.
Lastly, I’d like to shout out to ME. I’ve seen the highs and the lows, the dark and light of this business. I’ve seen people come and go throughout the years. I’m still here creating and producing, and, this isn’t a dream, it’s a lifestyle, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
