We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Snow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is like fashion. You may say you don’t care about it or don’t want to think about it, but you’re dealing with it every time you get dressed in the morning. Whether you make your choices based on comfort, to make a statement, or without even trying it’s happening so it’s better to just get used to it or even better make the most out or it. Every day is a question, nothing is certain, all you can do is take your best shot.

I dropped out of school to go pro in a sport that didn’t exist yet. I auditioned to be on a TV show I was underage for at the time. I started businesses with no experience in them. Those were all risks but without them I wouldn’t have had the chance to do something off the beaten path I was born on. Every new idea, every innovation, every “I can’t believe that worked!” moment started as a risky choice and the world would be a far more boring place without them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art will always stand out from others because my life is my medium. Every few months I gather up all the things I’ve done or want to do and collect them into a portfolio of me, to help see the big picture of what I’m doing with this time on Earth. I believe that people are too big to fit into one job title. I want a life filled with adventure, and heart. I couldn’t live this way if I didn’t have people who believed in me. I have gone from professional athlete to choreographer, TV host to designer, director to author. Each time it meant that somebody trusted me to do something they had never seen me do before, even if sometimes that person was just me believing in myself. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that there’s nothing special. Anything I’ve accomplished could be done by anyone. That’s how I knew I could do it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I can’t have someone in LA without eating our way through the city. I’m a ramen addict so we would have to go to Sawtelle St. aka Little Osaka. My favorite has to be the Ajitama Tsukemen from Tsujita but the whole area is packed with good options, Furaibo for some street food, Tofu Ya for some Korean soup, or just a treat from Beard Papas.

There’s great tacos all over the city but I still love Mariscos Jalisco for Tacos de Pescado, definitely worth the drive just outside downtown.

For pizza you need to check out my friends at Side Pie. They opened up in pandemic literally out a hole in the fence at their house. Now they’re a top rated spot in LA featured in Eater and the NYT.

For drinks I could say a lot of fun spots like Clifton’s Cafeteria for the hidden Tiki Bar or K-Town for wild late night soju and dumbells (rice noodles wrapped in fried bacon), but the truth is you should come back to my place and have my brother Nico make you one of his signature Amber Rose cocktails because it’s the best drink in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am dedicating this shoutout to the most impressive human being I know: My wife, Dina Snow. She is not only an incredible business woman, artist, and smoking hot babe, she also manages to be an incredible mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She knows how to say the things we may not want to hear but need to, how to bring the best out of a tough situation, and when its time for snacks (or a strong drink).

She just gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Gray, less than two weeks ago and she’s already hard at work on her new company, hounding people for not getting back to her fast enough. She’s my favorite collaborator, my biggest inspiration, and the love of my life.
