We had the good fortune of connecting with Michele Lynch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michele, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My idea for my business came through a dream I had. At the time of the dream, I was in grad school and completing fieldwork – which was going to be studying dreams. Once I got my degree, I was planning to leave my 25+ years of dance and choreography experience behind me.

But – then I had a powerful Dream: “I’m in my car and I can’t get home – I am blocked by a young impish boy. I really need to get home to do my fieldwork – but, no matter what path I take – this playful boy is blocking me.” I decided to work with this dream like I work with choreography for characters in a musical. What emerged from this exploration – was that the playful boy was “Dancer Boy” and wouldn’t let me home to do my fieldwork until I took him with me. And so, this powerful exploration of my dream gave me the idea to use dance and choreography in my fieldwork. And then the idea for my business was born: Putting Dreams on Your Feet. I now work creatively with dreams and the body to help clients uncover hidden obstacles in their life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Before I lived in Los Angeles, I lived in New York City where I worked as a Broadway dancer and choreographer. That lifestyle taught me so much about perseverance, hard work, and most of all – having an unwavering belief in yourself. Getting that first Broadway show as a dancer – showed me that any dream is possible. What I learned in show business is that even though there are fabulous opening nights on Broadway – there are also many disappointing closing nights – and what allows you to persevere is how you handle the time in-between. Using all the tools I learned as a successful dancer and choreographer, I restarted my life in Los Angeles and created my own business. It’s been thrilling to be able to combine my love of dance and creativity along with my passion of spirituality and psychology. I’m excited to present something unique and transformative. I offer clients the ability to transcend their old ways of being in the world by tapping into their infinite creativity, their intuitive body and uncover the hidden gems in their unconscious-self.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Drive up PCH in Malibu to a hike in Point Dume. On the way back, stopping at Geoffreys for an indulgent lunch and expansive ocean views. Yogaqua in Marina Del Rey – yoga on paddle boards in the Marina! There’s nothing else like it! Gjusta in Venice for some delicious coffee and food. Griffith Observatory where we can view the Hollywood sign and get a layout of all of Los Angeles. Saturdays for treats at Broadway Baker. They have a specialized menu on Saturday’s which usually consists of a fabulous gluten-free donut.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Broadway Baker. The owners, Jim and Tom, have been with me since I first embarked on the path to my new business. They were there when I graduated from Grad School, ordered my first business cards and got my first client. Their unwavering support has gotten me through some challenging times. As successful small business owners themselves, they are positive and inspiring role models.
