We had the good fortune of connecting with Tora Woloshin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tora, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Part of my business is writing inspirational and motivational music that will hopefully provide mental stability for those who might have some troubles.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My forms of art come in all different types of mediums. I would say I am a professional singer songwriter, dancer, model and actress; but I also dabble in the visual arts as well: painting, drawing, graphic art and photography. Some of what I do that I consider to be art, some may not. And that includes: being a chef, wood restoration and remodeling. It took a whole lot of trauma and crazy experiences to get to where I am today. In the entertainment industry it is hard to filter out the snakes and bad guys. Naturally, being involved in this industry you will run into multiple people who will try to betrayed you in someway. It was definitely not easy. But it is also definitely what makes me who I am today and part of why I have gained strength, thick skin at a lot of very useful knowledge that I now hope to pass along to other independent artists and musicians. I overcame challenges step-by-step and usually Learning the hard way; doing it wrong first and having to correct it. The first contract I ever signed, I made the mistake of not fully reading it. Although I was able to get myself out of that situation with help from a lawyer, I learned very quickly that I needed to learn more about the business side of things. I want the world to know that is OK to have fears. Embrace them. And use those fears and any past experiences that cause trauma as motivation for your future and inspiration to push forward and never give up. I also want the world to know that I truly believe that my purpose here is to try to fix and save as much as I can and to help as many living creatures as I can. I want to motivate people to become their better selves and strive for a better universe for positive change.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the city, I would definitely take them to a couple beaches. Haight Street and Union are also two of my go to spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother has been my rock since the beginning of time for me. She always told me I could do anything I’m dreamed and be whatever I wanted in life. Every interest I had, she would help me explore and decide if I wanted to go further. She has always been, not only a protective shield but also, she grounds me and helps me become a stronger more intelligent woman every day.
