We had the good fortune of connecting with Michole McBroom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michole, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel my top 5 habits for success are:

1. Commitment to the process
2. Always strive to be better
3. Give information freely
4. Listen to the customer
5. Treat people fairly

What should our readers know about your business?
We are Lidstick Diaries dba Good Quality Human. We are a hat brand who started with women empowerment hats and pivoted to city designs and is now going through a brand name change. This is an exciting time, as well as a time of uncertainty on how to pivot. My partner and I have started several companies but have never been through a brand name change. The challenge is how to get our current audience to buy into the name change and recognize we are the same brand with great designs but desire a broader appeal. We have many new outlets in the works, such as, getting into the iconic store American Rag, being seen on Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of Potomac and continuing to expand our online sales and get into more small boutique stores. We have learned that everything will workout as it should and to keep moving forward. Business is not always as you planned but it will be what you put into it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town I would make sure they would start their day with a great workout at The Camp Transformation Center, Row House, Pilates Plus or The Mindry. We would get a massage at least once at my favorite spot, Tomoko Spa and of course get our nails done at my local nail shop. I would love to take her to roller skate at the Venice boardwalk, a few hikes in Malibu and visit the Malibu Framers market on Sunday before we head to Smorgasburg LA. We would have to do a little bit of shopping at the stores on Abbot Kinney and local thrift shops in Los Angeles during the week and of course all the great cuisine Los Angeles has to offer. Some of my favorite spots to go is Roberta’s pizza, Mizlala West Adams, Woodspoon, R+D Kitchem, Rori’s Ice Cream, Bui Sushi, SK Donuts and the list goes on and on.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my business partner, Ishaan Bahri. He is always raising the bar of excellence and does not allow us to settle. He is our creative force that allows me the opportunity to get our product in the best markets and in front of consumers who are happy to support us.
