We had the good fortune of connecting with Miesha Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miesha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
We take risk everyday of our lives but in business risk is required to activate success. Essentially, risk is stepping out on faith and betting on yourself. Personally, I see risk as an investment, an investment in ideas, dreams, goals and imagination. The greatest investment you’ll ever make is in yourself. Failure may come but it is a learning lesson to prepare you for the next level. Therefore, taking risk is the bridge to unlimited possibilities. If I would have never taken any risk, all of my businesses would have only been a dream, never a reality.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a serial entrepreneur my personal mantra is building generational wealth through entrepreneurship. I have been able to create multiple streams of income by leveraging my talents, skills, and experience. I am the founder & CEO of Ucrowd LLC which is a ticketing platform for event curators and attendees to create, discover and sell tickets online. I am also, a business consultant and founder of Miesha Robinson Consulting which specializes in business development, management, web design, marketing and branding for the everyday entrepreneur. Also, I am the owner of the online clothing store Twenty21 and Co. which is a lifestyle clothing & accessories brand to elevate excellence. There are several other businesses that are in the early stages of development which will be launched later this year. One of my main goals is to continue making an impact while making an income. I have been able to create jobs and give back to the community through philanthropy, motivating and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Entrepreneurship is not easy, its hard work. You must have the desire to be great and have an unstoppable dedication to achieve every goal. That is what sets me apart from anyone else. I know my purpose and I walk in it every day. There have been many lessons along the way but a few of the key takeaways I have learned were to always do your research, become an expert in your industry, find a mentor, and never give up! I want others to know that your dreams are valid and achievable if you do the work and have faith. With all my many efforts the main goal is to enhance economic power within the black community and invest back into the community by creating jobs, funding innovation and providing resources for growth.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is a very rich city and there are so many opportunities to join in the festivities. A few places I would recommend for any visitor is Sip & Sonder coffee house in Inglewood, CA, Leimert Park, Cobblers Cakes and Kream, Dulan’s soul food kitchen, Downtown LA night walk, Del Amo Mall, California African American museum and the broad museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There has been so many amazing Women I have connected to in my lifetime that have made a significant impact on my life and career. One person in particular is Lori Mitchell, the founder of Black Women in technology. From the moment I met her I knew she was a safe place. She is a combination of fire, grace and intelligence that will light up a room. I appreciate every word, encouragement, and support that she has given and has never changed since the day I met her. She will always be a second Mom. A Special shoutout to my Mother, who’s my best friend, Lashon Hines, all of my siblings, Demetrice Talley, Eva Sparks (Spark it up Hookah), Kennya Martinez (Dreamers in LA), Damaris Gandy (Pink Money Inc.) and all the other ladies in the Pink Pod! All of you inspire me every day and I love you. #TribeVibes
