We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I love acting! there’s nothing else I’d rather do. I love storytelling. I love telling stories that aren’t told in the history books. I love being able to have someone walk into a theater of any kind and leave slightly different, better then when they walked in. Acting also helps us as actors understand each other and allow ourselves to be put in other shoes which in turn, can allow our audience to understand the world around them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
America’s greatest playwright August Wilson always said that. “It is a testament to the power of theater to reveal and contribute to the abundant gifts of humanity that are part of us all.” I love being on set in front of the camera and on stage. I can just put myself out there and let go all of my anxieties. I don’t think you can ever stop learning or growing as an actor. What sets me apart from others is for the simple fact that I am me and in truth, there is no other person on this earth like me. I got to where I am today professionally because of my commitment and consistency not only to the arts but also due to growth as an individual. It’s never easy. If it were easy there’d be no Zendaya. If it were easy there’d be no Michael B Jordan. If it were easy there’d be no Denzel Washington. Not only that if it were easy, there’d be no Mike Campbell. Some lessons I’ve learned along my journey is that of what Stephen McKinley Henderson said of as an actor “don’t get it right get it true.” Our jobs as actors are to tell the story, embody the character and to find the truth. I want all the young actors, directors, producers, writers etc. to know that “without commitment, you’ll never start, but more importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish.” – Denzel Washington

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best spots in LA to hang out near any beach would be the Santa Monica Promenade in Santa Monica, CA. If you’re a foodie the best Italian spot-on earth is Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills and If you’re the cafe, green tea type you also have to hit up Urth Cafe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank all those who have supported me through the years and through this profound journey of growing as an Actor. I also want to thank all those who have come before me in the world of Theater, Film and Television because without you there would be no me, thank you.
