We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikhaila McNamara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikhaila, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Both inside and outside of the Medspa Industry most are not aware of the complete and utter lack of business acumen that plagues the world of aesthetics.

According to the 2020 medspa show, less than 10% of med spa owners track business metrics
60% of owners could not calculate their total expenses
30% cannot track how much they are making
21% cannot tell you where revenue is coming from by service

These are fundamental analytics that any business owner should be tracking, showing a huge need for Medspa coaches.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my journey 15 years ago as a medical marketer when I opened up The Inner Spa while still working my 9-5 marketing for a large Hearing Aid Sales Franchise.

The first client I had at my spa I sold a $10,000 package and that’s when I knew the medspa industry was going to change my life.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck when I faced a personal challenge and I had to sell my still very lucrative spa and moved out of state.

This was a blow to my confidence and my entrepreneurial spirit but I always knew that I would eventually find my way back to the medspa world.

Eventually, Medspa Coaching was born when I turned down a $ 200,000-a-year job as a medical marketer for one of the world’s largest hair restoration clinics. This offer revitalized my interest in the medspa industry as it occurred to me that I didn’t need to be tied down to just one establishment. I had the teachable and scalable skills that could benefit hundreds of aesthetic professionals, not just one franchise.

I worked with my dear friend Kirsten Roldan who helped me establish my offer and build my coaching business, the very first day I opened my coaching business I signed a client and it all only continued to grow from there.

I’ve since coached business owners in all facets of the aesthetic industry to double their profit and I have over $2,000,000 in client results!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had friends in town I would definitely take them to SoCo for some unique boutiques and sightseeing then I would take them to Ikura Revolving Sushi Bar because the novelty of the space is so fun but also sushi is delicious!

I would end the night at Tiki Tatsu Ya the coolest adults-only tiki bar in the area and share some of their light show drinks, they are delicious and so much fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to Shout out Jasmine the CEO of highflierpowerhouse Design and Kirsten Roldan the CEO of Million Dollar Email. Jasmine is my incredible coach and Kirsten is my best friend.
They are both powerhouses in the coaching industry and I wouldn’t be where or who I am without them.
