We had the good fortune of connecting with Milon Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Milon, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and brand as an LGBTQ filmmaker is my unwavering authenticity and commitment to representing the LGBTQ community through my storytelling. By writing, producing, directing, and acting in my own films, I ensure that the narratives are true to my vision and resonate deeply with my audience. My hands-on approach allows me to create genuine, relatable characters and stories that might otherwise be overlooked, filling a crucial gap in the industry and establishing a strong connection with viewers who see themselves reflected in my work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud about how my movies have been out since 2011 and the fans still watch and love them. I got here because I never gave up even when I wanted to. My set backs only made me stronger and more determined to succeed. Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. The challenges were numerous, from navigating an industry that often overlooks LGBTQ stories to the financial and logistical hurdles of independent filmmaking. But I overcame these obstacles through sheer determination and a commitment to telling stories that matter. My work is a reflection of my community, and I’m proud to give a voice to narratives that are often underrepresented.

Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of staying true to your vision and never giving up, even when the road is tough. I want the world to know that MVP Productions is more than just a film company; it’s a platform for stories that need to be told. My brand is built on authenticity, passion, and the belief that art has the power to change lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I’m originally from Chicago specifically south side I would have to make sure they experience my favorite spots in the city. If they want Black owned with a turn up vibe we’d go to PROVARE. If they want to try Soul Food with a flare, CHEMISTRY. And if they want some fire tacos I’d take them to VELVET TACO or to get some Chicken Birria Tacos. And for Fine dining and steak we’d go to RPM AND BLVD.

And since now that I live in the suburbs I’d have to show them some of my favorite restaurants that I eat at. Beatrix if they want brunch. RH Restaurant if they want the best Lobster rolls and Truffle fries and last I’d take them to my favorite restaurant in Westmont, PAPPADEAUX which has the best seafood gumbo and Cesar salad.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special Shoutout to my incredible wife, who’s not only my co-writer but also the backbone of everything I do. Her intelligence, motivation, and hard work are the driving forces behind our success. She inspires me every day with her creativity and dedication, and I’m so grateful to have her by my side in this journey. Our films are a true collaboration, and I couldn’t do it without her.
