Meet MiruDaru | Singers-Songwriters

We had the good fortune of connecting with MiruDaru and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MiruDaru, why did you pursue a creative career?
The reason for pursuing an artistic career was to have an outlet and a voice. We are from Latin America and our culture is very conservative. Art, in our case, music, has provided us with a safe platform to talk about issues that matter to us, to explore and express different feelings and experiences we’ve gone through, to connect with other people who feel the same way we do, and to be agents of change and support for others. We truly believe that art allows to start conversations, and it sets our souls free. Music helps to create communities and bring people together. That is something that drives us and inspires us to create and write. Our music now creates intercultural bridges and it’s a magical experience when we can unite, educate and enjoy together different sounds and rhythms.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are proud of all the wonderful songs we’ve been able to produce and release. Also, the music videos and live productions we’ve done so far. It’s been a real challenge to be where we are today. We come from a country devastated by political corruption and inhumanity, and it has been emotionally difficult for us to overcome the many fears we’ve encountered along the way, but if it wasn’t for those difficult moments, we wouldn’t have pushed ourselves to be better and to work hard for the dreams we carry with us. We moved to Los Angeles not knowing anybody or how to start our career. All we had was the dreams and the songs we first wrote. We started connecting with people, we went to school and we started performing to build up our confidence. We were rejected from auditions, submissions, and we were mistreated countless times while performing, but we knew that our music had heart and it would find a way. We decided to produce ourselves and to develop our artist brand as independent artists. We realized that we had the power to start and to make things happen for ourselves, so we did. Once we realized our value and our capabilities, doors started opening and many opportunities came. It’s been difficult and there is always going to be rejections, but somebody will say yes eventually, and that’s going to be the chance you were waiting for. That’s one of the biggest lessons we’ve learned. Also, when you are kind, caring and polite you create a community around you that helps you carry the weight of the world. We want to connect with our audience, we want to make music that is meaningful and that is fun. We want to make a positive change in the world. As artists we have the power to have that kind of impact and it’s something that we want to keep doing in the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love Japanese food and culture, so we would take our friends to enjoy the best Japanese food there is. We’d take a stroll by Sawtelle Japan Town or Little Tokyo. We’d go to the Japanese supermarkets so they can try Japanese goods and snacks. We would definitely go to Melrose to check the fashion, and some other stores that we love to go to. For scenery, Santa Monica and Venice are a must, then, Hollywood and the Griffith Park, maybe the old LA Zoo where we shot one of our videos, and of course have dinner parties with our friends. LA is so culturally diverse that is a great place to encounter other cultures for the first time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d love to dedicate this to each and single one of you who have believed in our music and our message. Our music is inspired in real experiences, real relationships and our hopes for the future. Each person we’ve had contact with has made an impact in our life and we thank you for that. To our family and friends for believing and supporting us throughout the journey. There’s still way to go, but we’ll make it thanks to your love.
