We had the good fortune of connecting with Misha McK and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Misha McK, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
There is no end to my career. As an actor, TV talk show host and advocate for social change, as well as the co-founder of Suicide Watch and Wellness Foundation, my mission is to have my I -care mental awareness campaigns continuously create and increase awareness about the importance of mental health, about the role family and friends and communities play in ridding the stigmas surrounding suicide and mental illness. It is a never-ending battle, but together we can make a difference.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I starred in the half-hour situation comedy Me and Mrs. C with the late Peg Murphy. I also starred in the feature film He’s My Girl with Jennifer Tilly and T.K. Carter. Playing other characters is fun and interesting, however, the Misha McK Show is what gives me the greatest reward by providing a platform for everyday people and celebrities to talk as well as shining a bright light on those who are struggling with mental health and suicide ideation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our week-long eating and entertainment itinerary will include lunches at Chin-Chin in Beverley Hills, Kung Pow Bistro in Studio City, Killer Shrimp Restaurant in Marina Del Rey, and at Mimi’s Cafe in Beverly Hills.

The dinner itinerary includes Teru Sushi in Studio City and Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills. This is where we met Robert De Niro for the first time. Then we will go to Mi Piace and Il Fornaio in Pasadena for dinner. We will also dine at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beverly Hills, and maybe he’ll be there to whip up one of his desert specials for fun.

Sunday brunch at Beverley Hills Hotel is always amazing with great music and mimosas.

We will work off all the delicious food with the Sierra Club Mountain Hikes through Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Then to relax, we will go for high tea and scones at Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena and take a walk around the Pasadena Rose Bowl.

The Santa Monica Pier is always fun around 11:00am, so we will hang out there for a couple of hours. Then, we’ll catch a couple of classic movies at the Pasadena and Santa Monica Art house theaters.

We’ll spend a day enjoying the sandy beaches of Malibu and have an early dinner at the iconic restaurant Gladstones to enjoy the Sunset. To wrap up the visit, we’ll drive up the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and catch a ferry to Catalina Island and tour the amazing Ridley Mansion. Lastly, we’ll shop at the boutiques on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate a shout out to my good friend David Klass, author of the many young adult novels and feature film writer of the movies, Kiss the Girls with Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Cary Elwes, as well as the movie Desperate Measures with Michael Keaton, Andy Garcia and Brian Cox. David was always supporting, mentoring, and encouraging us to hang in there and inspiring our youth with his body of work. He came to every event and even spoke on behalf of Save Our Youth Arts and Education Organization’s after school programs, where we worked with the Pasadena and Los Angeles Unified school districts.

Save Our Youth Arts and Education Organization is geared toward re-educating and redirecting the youth through the arts, to cultivate and develop their self-esteem.

David Klass accompanied us as a chaperone to President Clinton’s inauguration when our youth group was invited to perform Graffiti Blues, the first rap opera that my husband and I co-wrote with the students.
