We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy Hargrove and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Missy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe I have always been artistic and creative since I was born. I have always been the kid in class day dreaming or writing stories, creating something. When I started high school is when I realized that I really enjoyed telling the story through acting. I really found my calling, and it just never left me. It’s the one thing that gives me motivation every day and makes me happy. I tried focusing on a different career path, but I would never anything as satisfying as acting. No matter what I do, I can’t stray from my passion. So why not pursue it whole-heartedly? Sure, there is a lot of risks, but for my passion and happiness, I’m willing to take those risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been creative since I was a child, I didn’t discover I wanted to act until high school, when I started in the drama department under my favorite teacher, Mrs. Trudy Prestridge. She is the one who ignited the spark in my passion, and I am so grateful for her. My passion didn’t stop there. I started taking classes for acting in film at Hollywood Huntsville in the fall of 2015 and that’s when I found my acting coaches Bill and Ayoka Billions, and my passion grew stronger. Bill and Ayoka opened my eyes to what I could actually do with my talent and how to use my voice.

I’ve learned a lot of lessons a long the way, one that sticks with me is getting out of my head. I’ve let the thoughts and opinions of peers affect me before, and they played on repeat in my head. How can anyone get anything done. Once I got out of my head, and focused on what I wanted and stopped worrying about those peers and their thoughts, my talent brightened. I worked harder and continue to still do and stay motivated. I believed in myself and knew this is what I wanted, so I’m going to get it. But know, nothing is owed to me, I will work for it and earn it.

I want people to know that I am not stopping for what I want in life. No matter how long the path is, I am determined. I want them to know the light in my heart, and that I hope to bring positivity and inspiration everywhere.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have one best friend in mind, and I would definitely take her on a ghost tour of my city. I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama after moving away from Florida to be closer to family. This city has so much history, and there is a lot of spooky places. I have always been fascinated by the paranormal, and so has this friend and I think it would be a great experience and fun. Of course, done safely. Have to watch Ghost Adventures for a full day before ! And then of course to a local eatery, there is so many here and enjoy the day with my best friend full of laughter, spooks, and a beautiful story!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate this Shoutout to my acting coaches Bill Billions and Ayoka Billions.
