We had the good fortune of connecting with MIXIE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MIXIE, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I think the question would be best answered as to what i’m not inspired by. Everything inspires me. My creative work is a reflected mosaic of my walking life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music & visuals are rather hard to describe or define; this being one of my very favorite aspects of my artist project. It took a bit of time before I found my retrofuturistic northstar, and since then, i’ve just fallen deeper down the hole, and in love with the sound. The previous works help to inform the next ones, rather than constantly needing to derive inspiration from outside influences.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Warm windows down drive down PCH, surrounded by nostalgic music, stopping to pick up thai from cholada, topped of with a sunset picnic in Malibu. Alone, with friends, or a loved one—this is bliss.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mentor and honorary big brother, Yoshi Flower, as well as my friends & family have been immensely supportive throughout my creative journey. When insecurity inevitably strikes, these people nudge me back on track with the utmost confidence.
