We had the good fortune of connecting with MJ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MJ, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Self discipline and determination are a few of the most important factors behind the success of my brand. I literally have to discipline myself every single day to have a balance and focus on aspects of my business. I pay for coaching and training to learn new things or ways that I can be doing something better. I’m constantly taking masterclasses and joining groups with like-minded individuals wanting to achieve success just as I am. I’m the face of my brand so I also incorporate a healthy life style. I’m at the gym at 7am 6 days a week because aside from its importance to be healthy, I also understand that it sets a healthy mental foundation for me to go about my day and focus on my brand. I still work a full time job along with running my business full time, so balance and being determined about the success of my brand is definitely key for me. I won’t stop until I get it to where I believe it can be, and I’m willing to put forth the effort to do so.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a women’s clothing brand that I run from my home. We are small but have been growing so much in the past few months. I love fashion and beauty, but most importantly I love dressing others and making them feel good! I’m one of the most sensitive and empathic people you will probably ever meet and I grew this brand on the words “High Honors”. My brand definition is (to achieve your highest level of excellence). I built a brand on those two words. I really want people to feel like they can conquer the world when wearing items from my brand, beauty should be on the inside and out and that’s what I want to represent. I have so many ideas for my brand, and I know I’m only touching a small part of the surface. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

It has not been easy getting to where I am today, but I have had some wins. Most people might think being an entrepreneur is easy no matter how big or small you’re starting off, but it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of late nights and early mornings, doing things you don’t want to do, but you know you have to. One of the best business advice I’ve ever received is I need to celebrate “incremental wins” no matter how big or small. I got my brand to where it is today because I had to learn how to strategize, I had to become analytical, I had to seek business minded people and gain their knowledge. I wasn’t afraid to keep learning and growing. Along the way, I’ve learned not to be so hard on myself if something doesn’t happen the exact way that I planned it out. Just as long as I keep going, the wrong will eventually be right. I also learned that setting goals is the only way I’ll ever know if I’ve achieved something.

I want the world to know that I’m doing something that sets my soul on fire. I’m passionate about building my brand and I want other women to see and know that they can do the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in Los Angeles is “Taste on Melrose” I’m a brunch girl but they also have lunch and dinner. Some of the best food and drinks you will ever have. I also enjoy “Mama shelter” and they have an amazing rooftop that overlooks Hollywood. The “wine safari” in Malibu is the best ever, I love taking people there when visiting because you get to feed animals and taste wine. How amazing is that!? Pasadena also has some amazing spots to try out in Old Town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my shoutout goes to God. It was from a dark place that he was able to show me my light and place this business in my heart. My next shoutout goes to some of my amazing friends and family members such as Enid Calo, Lauren Lugo, Patricia Sylvain, and Gina Glaudin who constantly push me and uplift me, they share my business all the time and they support what I want to do.
