We had the good fortune of connecting with MOE Entertainment Rose Emanuel, Lucas Marten and Gregg Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MOE Entertainment, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Rose: It’s honestly a bloody scary thought but I watched my dad start his company from the ground up and that really motivated me. He’s always been one of my biggest inspirations and motivators. Bringing in Lucas and Gregg was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. This company would be nothing without them.
What should our readers know about your business?
MOE Entertainment started with just an idea for a tv show concept, which spiraled into something greater. We now have over twenty projects at various stages from a variety of contributors. We’re proud of the catalog of unique styles and stories that we’ve been able to accumulate. We like to have a range of content, from kid-friendly to adult humor, movies to series. We want to capture as many audiences as possible.
We hope to elevate different kinds of stories and help develop them into something that people get to enjoy. It’s taken a lot of hard work, communication, patience, and drive to move forward. We’ve learned to keep going, keep pushing, no matter how many rejections we got. We can’t let a No stop us, when one door closes another two open.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Rose: Disneyland. Hands down. The food and drink is great, the atmosphere and the people. Everyone is always so happy and in their most positive state of mind. It’s always fun to people watch there.
Gregg: I’d love to recommend visiting Old Towne Orange. Its historical appearance and dining options make for a real comfortable outing anytime.
Lucas: I love the NoHo Arts District, The Last Bookstore downtown, Venice Beach, the views from Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park, the tourist destinations of Hollywood & Highland or Universal Citywalk, and the food everywhere is going to be great.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Rose: For me personally it has to be everyone who has continuously pushed me along the way and motivated me throughout the year. So I have to give a shout out to my fiancé, all the family, friends and industry people who have cheered MOE on.
Gregg: Success to me is the fact that I can wake up everyday with the choice to take action on my dreams. However the process involves much more than myself. I thank a lot of my closest friends and family that continually support my endeavors, and push me to be the best I can be.
Lucas: I’m, of course, grateful to my parents for everything they’ve done for me, my advisors and mentors in work and school, and my friends who are constantly checking in with me and sharing their work with me.
