We had the good fortune of connecting with MomTalk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MomTalk, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It happened naturally when we went through a life shift, by becoming mothers. It was a freeing and natural expression that grew into something larger, that we found people were drawn to. It’s really turned motherhood into an empowering influence over our music career. It was important for us to keep our authenticity as artists and bring it into the film/tv/ad world. Keeping our unexpected and off center approach while making something relatable that would elevate other creatives and transport listeners into a different place. And it brings us a ton of joy to make music with each other all the time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We work mostly in commercial and film, creating music to pair with picture. We give ourselves permission to express all musical emotions on a full spectrum, and working in the moment from an authentic place that people resonate with. We are both artists first as well as technology geeks. We find ourselves between an analog and digital world, where we are creating instruments out of our own voices, creating our own samples from whatever is happening in our world that day. Almost like a snapshot of a passing moment, just unexpected ways of approaching and recording.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has very beautiful nature which has been the main getaway in these times. Mount Lowe, The Rosebowl, JPL are some of the places we like to visit. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to our team at Secret Road for being so supportive and standing behind our work. Shout out to our sons for giving us a new reason to do this together.
