We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Lanfranconi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadia, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?

Tough spot. I think you can reframe, change perspective, change approach or take a break but you can’t actually give up entirely without suppressing and abandoning a part of our self. You are who you are, if you quit and go against your self you’re entering a much bigger war.
Thing is, if you don’t try it’s for sure not gonna happen.
Why would you choose 0% chances than 50%?
Cause you might get your butt hurt?
Don’t worry, that bum gonna get bruised either way in life at some point, people leave, our pets die, we might even die before them so I suggest to live now. Just throwing ideas here, make a bucket list, even with small things, simple things. Get a kick of it.

Wait, don’t kick the bucket tho.

I made one at the beginning of 2020 and I keep adding more stuff as I go, as I write off my “missions accomplished“ cause my wishes changes as I go, as I grow.
There’s no right or wrong wish, it’s literally whatever you want.
I can share just a few easy ones I was able to make happen cause turns out it was mostly all up to me:

– Crowd surfing from the stage ( I was like “why the heck I’ve never done that?? “ )
– Cannonball my self into a pool at the end of the show ( without shoes and guitar please)
-Learn to play piano
– Spend Christmas with someone you love
– Go to Mexico
– Go to Mexico again but this time to perform there
– Go back to Italy after 10 years to see my friends and family. I know, I know.
– Choose better people in my life and learn how to say no ( THIS ONE RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY ON THE LIST LIKE YOUR PHONE BILL. It’s more of a reminder at this point. )
– Meet Teal Swan ( this just recently happened and totally by chance through a common friend)

A few on the list still yet to make happen:

– Go to Paris ( I’ve never been and kicking my self for it)
– Swim with dolphins ( I know, sounds silly but I really want to. )
– Release the song I started in Italy, we’re very close as it was chosen to be in a film that’s coming out this year.

I won’t tell you the crazy ones I have on the list…yet… Maybe next time I’ll unbutton more. Let’s get dinner and a movie first?

Seriously now, I hope this helps, I think we all felt very lost last year and disoriented. Keep moving forward, some days are not gonna feel good and that’s totally fine, you can cry and have a bad day or a bad month even. That’s how we grow. Call your friends for help when you feel down. Don’t need to isolate.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Been lucky to be back working this year on some tv and film projects. And of course Music in any capacity or form. I don’t think anyone wakes up one day saying” I want to be a singer, I want to be a musician “, I think you might be born like that. Then you choose if you want to pursue it or not.
I’m very fortunate to be able to draw whatever I want, was a great creative escape as a kid but I didn’t feel like investing too much time in painting. Simply cause playing music it’s more fun, I love it more and painting is a very antisocial inward process, I can feel mental after I spend 2 days on a canvas. But music is different, I can never get tired of it. I’m not sure how and why, and I have no idea wtf I’m doing most of the time but I know I have to keep doing it. ( .. that’s also what the serial killer said.. awkward..)

In conclusion, to mention a great master, Joe Dispenza says it’s in the unknown that we can create magic. I feel like I know nothing most of the time like John Snow but somehow it always works out and if that’s not the definition of magic..now I need to add dragons in the bucket list. Cool.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Before the pandemic definitely the Viper Room on a Monday night, not just when we were playing there but nevertheless. Sunset Marquis is my favorite Hotel and bar, feels like a second home here, the best musician hang in town. And then add some crazy friends to do the rest, especially if they’re Italians, definitely add them in the mix. The place can help but it’s really the company that makes it special and La definitely has some of the most interesting characters I’ve ever seen. Rule of thumb, just always have your passport and a toothbrush, God knows where the night will take us, I certainly dont. This rule will change when I get the dragons.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends who support me in so many ways, the people who actually stepped in when I was going through it. They gave me healing by doing that. Especially the ones who did it before I could even shake in my boots as they have allowed me to feel safe before I could feel scared. That’s really something. Here’s their names and addresses:

Kidding obviously. Here’s their phone numbers.

Ok. Thank you for having me!
