We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakisa Nowroozi, PhD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nakisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Disappointed with the snack food industry and more so with “superfood” snack industry, and out of necessity for myself and my family, I started my own real superfood business selling clean and honest superfood snacks that are gut friendly and accommodate various restriction diets.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was built on trust and honesty. My business truly believes in and practices Hippocrates’ famous quote “Let Food Be Thy Medicine”.
My superfood products are purposeful and functional, meaning every ingredient has a health promoting purpose and these real foods feed every cell in the body to become stronger and healthier with every bite.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to bike at the beach, Yoga studios, Sound Bath by the beach, nature hikes, visit historical places in downtown, surfing/windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and an organic spa/massage. We would then drive up to Big Bear Mountains for mountain hiking, skiing or water skiing depending on the season and visit their wild animal zoo.
For Food: A clean organic lunch place like Fermentation Farm and Kitchen or The Ecology Center. We would then go to Farmers market to get fresh organic vegetables and meat to make a homemade dinner.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give recognition to my two beautiful sons for giving me a direction in life and with their unique challenges helping me realize my true passion and my real purpose in this world.
I would like to give a shout out to my lovely husband Kian for being my strongest supporter in life and for believing in me all along.
Last but not least, I want to acknowledge my wonderful parents for their continuous love and encouragement, for always being there for me, and for raising me to be resilient and determined, and to not give up easily when life is unfavorable; especially these are my father’s strong traits that I inherited from. My dad has always been my role model and as a successful businessman has an impressive track record of finding ways to keep moving forward and upward.
