We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy and Mars Resendiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy and Mars, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process behind starting our own business, was that we didn’t want to continue working a 9-5. We wanted to embrace our creativity into something would would enjoy in the long run.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our company custom dress spaces. My husbands sewing background and my interior design both came together naturally . We’re able to drape ceiling and walls for specific occasion, such as style shoots, weddings, film sets, fashion shows, pop us stores etc. We got to where we are because of our people skills, drive and dedication.
It definitely was not easy. One of biggest challenges, was giving up our social life. Unable to attend family gatherings was tough, but we were focused on our goals and children. We decided it’s best to put in the work now, and later enjoy the fruits of our labors.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is definitely a fun place to be. We believe LA has the best food. It’s so eclectic and diverse. Here you can surf, ski, hike, as well as enjoy the elite style of nightlife. Our promoter friends throw some of the greatest upscale exclusive events here in LA.
There’s something about going to a show in downtown and grabbing some street tacos and LA dogs. It just hits different.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We started our business from the ground up. It was an idea my husband and I both had. We never really had a mentor. Even to this day. We carved a space for ourselves in the event industry., by giving our clients a custom experience tailored specifically to their needs. We just knew what we wanted to do , and we wanted to travel more. So we made it work, by learning through experiences. If we had to give a shout out, it’s to our kids who pushed us to succeed. That alone made us work harder to be where we are at today.
