We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Sevilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I am generally a happy and positive person — I try to focus on the positive side of things rather than the negative. Happiness comes within, and throughout the years, I have found a few lifestyle changes that have helped me to be happier, and they are:
-Writing 3-5 things I am grateful for first thing in the morning. This has helped me appreciate even the littlest things like waking up to a new day or having a roof over my head.
-Giving back to my friends, family, and those in need. I am a giver and find joy in giving to others. Surrounding myself with good people. I am so grateful for this! To have very supportive and loving people who always have my back and vice versa.
-Having ME TIME! This is so important and much needed! It’s okay to say no, and put yourself first. During my self-care days, I like to meditate, go on solo spa dates, or watch a movie. I try to have “me” days at least twice a week – obviously more now during times like this. But it’s a great way to recharge.
-Overall doing ME! What I mean by this is, I stopped caring what other people think, stopped comparing myself to others, and am just living a life I want to create! Life is too short, and once I started focusing on myself, life became way less stressful, more fun, and overall better!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Travel & Lifestyle Blogger over at Fancy Nanc-ista. I provide readers with luxury hotel reviews, travel and food guides, fashion tips, and overall lifestyle on my blog. I’d say what sets me apart from everyone else is I like to be as transparent as possible. I’d say (or what I’ve been told), I am the same person on Instagram as I am in real life — I like just to be ME! How I mentioned before, I do me, and it’s been great! I also think it has been an excellent way for me to connect with others on a deeper level. I love looking back on my year and seeing how much I’ve accomplished. Even though this past year has been a tough one for most of us, I honestly think it was a big year for growth and reflection, and it’s overall made me a stronger, smarter, and better person. I had a lot of time to focus on myself and really think about my goals and what I can do to improve overall. With that being said, I think this pandemic has helped me and my brand grow. It was definitely not easy; some days, I felt lazy and unmotivated, but then other days, I pushed myself to be more productive. It’s all about balance and utilizing this extra free time to build something for yourself. A few self-help books, meditation, and motivational videos really helped me get through it! I overall hope to inspire wanderlust readers across the globe to keep doing you — keep focusing on yourself and believing in yourself! Go after your passion and dreams because life is too short to miss out on great things!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I luckily live in an enjoyable and entertaining city — Los Angeles. If I was showing my bestie around during non-covid times, here are some of my go-to spots:

Eats:
-Sugarfish: a sushi place MUST when visiting LA, is also a favorite for tourists and locals alike.
-Akumi Sushi: another favorite sushi place I like to go to – they have amazing food and service, and on the plus side, they offer happy hour pricing all day long, which is a major win-win!
-Korean BBQ: you can’t go to LA and not eat Korean BBQ! There are many to choose from; my ultimate favorite is Kang Ho-Dong Baekjeong.

Drinks:
-Employees Only: my def go-to, great place to grab a fancy cocktail and enjoy the ambiance with your friends. Everyone that works there is also very attentive and super nice. And overall, a must place to check out!
-Laurel Hardware: this place is a must for both food and drinks! Everything on their menu is delicious, and you must pair it with a good cocktail.
-Mama Shelter: I really like this place if you want to grab drinks on a rooftop. It’s a fun place to meet up with your friends for unique drinks while enjoying the rooftop views.

Must-Visit/Do:
-Go on a Hike. If you are visiting LA, hiking is a must! There are so many hikes to choose from; my favorites are Runyon Canyon, Los Liones Trail, Santa Monica Mountain Peak…the list goes on.
-Go to the Beach. I honestly never really go to the beach, but I’d take them to a staple, Santa Monica or Venice if a friend visited.
-Visit the Urban Lights, The Getty, or Griffith Observatory. These are some of my favorite spots to shoot and are awesome places to take people who are visiting you.
-Visit Rodeo Drive or Melrose Ave. Definitely, some places to see while in LA; whether you’re shopping or even grabbing a drink, there are countless things to do in both areas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There isn’t just one person I’d like to give thanks to; in fact, I’d like to thank not only my good friends and family but my audience as well. And I say this all the time, they are why I am still doing what I am doing, and without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. This platform has given me a lot of opportunities, and I’m forever grateful for that. It’s also given me a voice and a way to connect with so many people worldwide that I would have never connected with if it weren’t for my blog. So thank you to everyone who has supported me from day 1 or even just started! I appreciate every one of you. 🙂
