We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Mal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always known that I wanted to start my own business. I come from a family that has endured many challenges together, and I can see clearly in hindsight how impactful it was for me to share with them the information and tools I learned to overcome my challenges. From my personal experiences, I know that these resources can mean life or death. I am very fortunate to have formed relationships with people in my life who have challenged me to go beyond what I think is possible. My most adventurous friend Candice got me all the way to Nepal to volunteer and to trek to Everest Base Camp with her nonprofit, Trek Relief. This experience opened my life in so many ways. This type of belief that she had in me is something that I know I get to pay forward. There are far too many incredible heart-centered people out there who are filled with knowledge and wisdom of self-development, health, and wellness that absolutely need to be shared, but they haven’t quite figured out how to share it all yet. I started my business because I am inspired with a purpose to empower these rich, untapped voices because the world needs them, and I have the skills to help bring their value forward in digestible and practical ways.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business Natalie Mal Consulting, LLC provides consulting, coaching, program development, and curriculum design to self-development, health, and wellness professionals, companies, and organizations. Our unique approach on the art and science of creating content is designed to transform the way information is introduced in order to boost engagement and effectiveness that will translate to better comprehension, integration, and results. Prior to forming my business, I had the opportunity to support content development needs for amazing thought leaders, including Tony Robbins. I earned my bachelors in Cognitive Science (emphasis in Psychology) and Fine Art from the University of California, Berkeley, gaining an interdisciplinary understanding of the inner workings of our creative and magnificent brains. I also have spent years learning about how our human mind-body-spirit system works through educational programs and through my experience as both a Registered Yoga Teacher and Life Coach. I choose to lead my business with a holistic, heart-centered, and strategic approach so that I can support to widen perspectives, to give rise to knowledgeable voices, and to reach those who need resources to live full lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first: nature reset. We hit the trails to gain some perspective with a soul-rejuvenating, bonding, and energizing hike in Topanga Canyon to see the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Then grab some lunch at Reel Inn Malibu afterwards. From then on, we would attend a combination of creative events – visiting the Arts District, spending time with close friends laughing and dancing at a local show, and eating as much yummy asian food as possible along the way. That definitely involves KBBQ in Koreatown, La Vo Thai Pizza from North Hollywood, and I wouldn’t be able to let my friend leave without trekking out to 626 for some Chinese food. Nature, art, dancing, music, food – now that’s a good time! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I know that I couldn’t be where I am today without the guidance and encouragement of my mentors. Knowing that I can be that person for my clients is what gets me out of bed, and knowing that what I do has a ripple effect motivates me to show up every day. Supported learning moments can change the entire course of someone’s entire life for the better, for my mentors I am eternally grateful.
