We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Torres-Haddad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?

Most outsiders aren’t aware of the many free to low cost resources that are available to get started to learn about financial literacy. Over 7 years ago I started a bilingual podcast with interviews of self made millionaires, financially savvy investors, all things financial literacy and money. It is free on most platforms and my cohost and I create all our content in both languages to reach so many many countries not just latinos in the US. My industry is still very male dominated and even fewer bilingual women of color so that has helped us tremendously.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Founder of Financially Savvy Latina I am an international award winning author, educator and bilingual podcast host of Financially Savvy in 20 Minutes. My expertise has been featured in Forbes as a financial literacy and mental health advocate, Huffington Post, LA Times, and many news outlets like Telemundo, Univision, CNBC, ABC and Fox.

A two time TEDx speaker known for her talk “The foreign language of financial literacy” and “the confidence gap” about the wage gap.

Some of my videos have received over a million views and I am a sought out keynote speaker all over the country as a financial literacy and mental health advocate. A first generation college graduate from CSULB, in Finance and International Business with a Masters from CSUN, I focus on helping those with debt and working toward financial independence. My first children’s book in 2020 Made the #1 best seller on Amazon: “A dress to remember” based on the nonprofit LA’s Prom Closet I had for several years. Born in El Salvador, and raised in Inglewood I quickly understood that the lack of financial literacy limits her community of basic human rights and equality in resources. I started investing in real estate at age 24 and began my career advocating for financial literacy. I have bought and sold several investment properties, invested in several start ups and sit on a few non profit boards that specialize in the empowerment of financial literacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I would take them to the beach and enjoy rollerblading or walking on the strand. followed by an outdoor event either at the Griffith observatory or one of the many hiking trails I love taking. Favorite food spots like urth cafe and enjoy some sweets.
